I see him smirk. “Right, let’s pretend I believe you.”

“It’s true!” I say throwing my hands up in the air.

“It’s okay to like the snow and cold weather,” he says while looking over at me. “It’ll be our little secret,” he says with a wink.

A small smile comes over my face at his teasing tone. I turn and look out the window as we head out of the city.

I don’t tell him that I missed home way more than I let on. I miss my family more than anything. I miss seeing them whenever I want, even though my brothers can drive me crazy.

I miss everything about this place.

Chapter Two

Gabriel

I hear the clattering of dishes when I wake up the next morning.

Aubrey was pretty quiet the night before, so I could tell that something was going on regardless of her not telling me. I was making it my mission to find out what was bothering her while she was staying with me. I have always had this need to protect her. Something was causing sadness in those blue eyes, and nothing was going to stop me from finding out the cause. Aubrey is the one woman that I can’t stand to see cry.

I climb out of bed and stretch out with a groan.

No matter how many times I try to sleep in, I can’t do it. I’m used to waking up early.

I also wasn’t able to get much sleep knowing that Aubrey was just sleeping a room away from me. Wondering what she wore to bed, or even if she snored, had me daydreaming into the late hours. I need to stop thinking about her. It’s never going to happen.

I picked us up some food before we left the city, which was good because Aubrey was so tired that she went to sleep right when we arrived at the cabin.

No matter how tired she was, or that her hair was all over the place from sleeping on the plane, she was still easily the most beautiful woman in the world.

Every time I see her, she completely takes my breath away. I had to fight hard not to check her out, although I might have taken a few long glances when she wasn’t looking. The sunglasses I was wearing helped to disguise what I may be noticing of her beautiful figure.

She had curves in all the right places.

It didn’t matter that she was my perfect woman because there was no way that I was touching her. I just need to keep reminding myself of that. Maybe one day I will stop hoping that I can have her as mine.

I do my morning routine before I head to the kitchen where I smell bacon and pancakes cooking.

Fuck, that’s my favourite breakfast.

I stop in my tracks when I see Aubrey and suck in a sharp breath.

She’s standing at the stove swaying her hips to music that’s playing from her phone, and she has to be wearing the smallest shorts I have ever seen her wear with a ratty old t-shirt.

I clear my throat and watch as she slightly jumps and turns around.

“Gabriel! Good morning,” she says with a sweet smile.

“Morning, you know you didn’t have to cook for me,” I tell her while walking closer to her.

“Oh, I know, but I love to cook,” she says with a shy smile.

I nod my head. My cock is stiffening wondering just how her whole body looks flushed. “I know you do. Thank you.”

“It’s not much, but at least it’s something,” she says as she places the pancakes down next to the bacon on the island in the middle of the kitchen. She grabs me a coffee and I take a seat on one of the stools.

Both of us prepare our plates and sit down. There are a few minutes of silence until she speaks up. “So, what do you usually do up here on your week alone?”

I look at her in surprise. “How do you know that I always spend a week here alone?”
