“Wow, Ev. Getting deep on me now.”

“You haven’t seen nothing yet.” Flirting with him is so easy and fun.

“And you still haven’t answered my question.”

“Why me? You don’t need a certain type of girl for this themed party, do you?”

“No. And even if we did, I would still choose you. You’re a nice girl Ev. I want to be friends. We have fun together. You’re different than the ones I usually hook up with, and I want to have a nice, respectable girl on my arm. One without the drama of hookups or relationships.”

How can I say no to that? He’s right, we do have fun together, and what’s wrong with having a friendship. But if I’m going to be his date for frat events, then he needs to help me out too. “Okay, I’ll go with you. But I need a favor in return.”

“Which is?”

“My parents are…let’s just say, my parents are strict. Stuck in their ways. They think, my mom especially, that I should be in a serious relationship by now, ready to get married as soon as I graduate.”

“Yuck. That sounds like it sucks ass.”

“It does. It’s like that for my sister too. The worst part? She creates a fake dating profile for me and uses it to find what she thinks are matches. Then sends them to me. Every day.”

Landon’s expression is one of horror. “Talk about intrusiveness. What’s the rush in finding love? Doesn’t she know you want to be a nurse first?”

“Of course, she knows. Anyway, my cousin is getting married, and she really wants my sister and I to show up with a date. If not, we’ll be at the singles table and that’s way too embarrassing in front of her family.”

“Jeez, can you just not go?”

“That’s what Bella, my sister, and I want to do but you know how that’ll go over…not well. So, my favor is, will you be my date to my cousin’s wedding? You don’t have to pretend to be my boyfriend or anything crazy like that, just maybe you know get my mom to shut up for once.” I know I’m rambling, but the words tumble out regardless.

“I’ll go. When is it?”

“It’s near the end of January. A winter wonderland theme or something. Watch her come out as Elsa.”

Landon lets out a low chuckle. “I’ll clear my schedule and make it work.”

“Thanks, my mom will be so happy I actually have a date.”

“You need to find your sister one now or she’ll be pissed.” Landon chuckles.

“Felix?” I throw out there.

Landon looks surprised at first but then nods. “Actually, that’s a pretty good choice. I’ll ask him.”

I decide to keep the basket and we say goodnight considering five am will be here in a minute. As I walk to my room with my basket in hand, Lennox sticks her head out from behind her door.

“Whatcha get?” She squeals, opens her door, and runs over to me.

“You know what I got, girl.” I laugh as she follows me into my room. I place the basket on my bed and Lennox looks through it.

“Yes, he did great. He listened to everything I said.”

“I want to be mad at you for helping him but I’m not. This was a damn good gift.”

“I know, right? So, are you friends again?”

“Yep. I’m going with him to a beach party themed frat party this Saturday night at Club Luxe.”

Lennox mouth drops open. “Club Luxe? Are you fucking with me?”

“Nope. That alone made me want to say yes.”
