“Very clever, pookie.”

“Pookie? What did you just call my sister?” Bella snorts. “Please tell me that’s not a nickname or something.”

“Yep, I call her Pookie bear.” Landon says matter of factly like he just said I was his girlfriend or something.

Bella bursts into a fit of hysterical laughter and Felix joins in. “I thought sugar lips was bad but Pookie bear?”

I can’t help but laugh too. It is a ridiculous nickname but that’s why it’s funny.

Bella gives me a look like- and he doesn’t want you? Girl you’re crazy.

I narrow my eyes at her in warning and put a finger over my lips. Shh.

Once we reach Landon’s car, Felix and Bella climb in the back while I sit up front. We have some time to call so Bella and I take the guys on a little tour on where we grow up. We go by our parents’ house, where we went to school, and our favorite spots we’d sneak out to.

The guys crack jokes and we all laugh, Bella and I argue over whose memories are correct, and when we finally make it to the banquet hall, we’re about fifteen minutes late. Whoops.

People are still arriving so it’s easy to blend in and we find our seats. We’re at a table with my parents and as soon as they see us walk in, both of them stand. Introductions are done and my mom squeals over Landon, so happy to meet him in person.

“You’re even more handsome in person!” She gushes over Landon and then her eyes land on Felix and she starts gushing all over again. “And whose this cutie? Wow, my girls have done so good for themselves. Haven’t they, dear?” She calls over her shoulder to my father who comes to stand beside her.

Handshakes are passed around before we all finally settle in our seats. As a four course meal is served over the next couple of hours, there’s lots of conversation and laughter. My parents get along with Landon and Felix better than I could’ve asked for.

After dessert is served and the cake is cut, the party really gets going with music and dancing. It’s an open bar and we all happily take advantage, chugging the drinks as we busted out in dance moves.

I’m having so much fun I don’t even realize how fast the night goes until it’s over. I don’t want the night to end, it’s been such a great time.

“Do you and Bella want to come hang out with Felix and I back at the hotel?” Landon asks after we said our goodnights to my parents and I told them I’d be home later. It’s like he read my mind. Maybe he doesn’t want the night to end, either.

Bella and Felix are laughing and flirting next to Landon’s car and I doubt she wants to go home either.

“Sure.”

“I mean, that’s if you’re okay with it. If Bella doesn’t want to, I don’t mind dropping her off.”

“Thanks Landon, that’s sweet of you. Let me ask her.”

She decides to go back to the hotel like I knew she would.

The hotel isn’t far from the banquet hall and we’re there in less than five minutes.

Landon and Felix have adjoining hotel rooms with a door that connects the two. Each room has a queen size bed with two nightstands, a dresser with a TV, and a small table with two chairs in the corner. Nothing fancy but it does the trick for one night.

We’re all hanging out in Landon’s room, listening to music, and talking. Soon we’re dancing and laughing, and I end up in Landon’s arms. I don’t know how, if he acted first or me, all of the alcohol from tonight coursing through me. But I don’t step back.

He pulls me closer and we dance together like we did at Club Luxe back in October.

Slow down, Ev or you’ll be in his bed soon.

I ignore every racing thought and enjoy the moment. Song after song plays and we dance and dance, grinding to the fast songs, and wrapping our arms around each other for the slow ones.

Bella and Felix disappear into Felix’s room at some point but I don’t notice. I’m too wrapped up in my world. Where Landon’s hands are, how my entire body is buzzing, how he makes me feel so many things I’ve never felt before, or how I told myself to watch out and yet here I am slipping under his spell once more.

Eventually we break apart and Landon turns down the music.

“It’s getting late, I should probably go.” I turn towards the door but he places his hand on my arm and tugs gently.

“Wait, don’t go yet. We can just hang out, watch a movie? Order some room service?”
