“Yeah, but sleep still won.”

“There’ll be plenty more sunrise surfs. I’ll check the forecast and let you know.”

“Did you go alone?”

“Nah, I met up with a couple of frat guys. I actually need to head out to a meeting soon. Do you wanna hit the house party with me on Stevens Road tonight? I’ll be mixing some drinks.”

“Hell yeah. It’s our senior year. I want to take advantage of every party.” Rhett slaps a hand on his knee. “Yo, you know what I just thought of that would be killer? You should come up with a new signature drink for every party we go to.”

Now I really choke on my cereal. “Dude. That’d be like a million drinks.”

Rhett laughs. “Facts. Plus all your frat events this year. Which I better be invited to.”

“You know you are. A few of them you have to buy a ticket for. The one in a couple of weeks is formal. Need a date and everything.” I purposely leave out the virgin part. Don’t need that getting out to our friends.

“I’m all set with formal. I hate wearing a tux.”

“Tell me about it. I asked Everleigh to go with me.”

Rhett raises his eyebrows. “Everleigh? Like the chick that lives downstairs that we’re all friends with? That Everleigh?”

“I don’t know another one. Do you?”

“Smartass. I’m just surprised. Are you into her?”

“You remember who you’re talking to right? I’m not into any one girl. But I need a respectable, nice girl to take with me. I figured why not ask her?”

“Ah. Makes sense none of your hoes would fit the bill. Can’t dress up trash. Still trash underneath.”

“I might be a man whore, but I’m a clean one. Fuck that nasty shit. Besides, your door revolves just as much as mine does.”

“You don’t know what you’re talking about.” Rhett smirks which only confirms what I said.

“Yeah, you keep it on the down low but from one player to another, I know.”

“I can’t wait to hear how this date goes with Everleigh. I bet she’s a freak in the sheets.” Rhett completely changes the subject off of himself.

“No way. She looks like she’s never been kissed.”

“I don’t know, man. Those quiet, good girl ones always seem to have a crazy, freaky side.”

“You really think Everleigh does?”

He shrugs. “Let’s just say, I wouldn’t be surprised if she did. You know those girls get pretty wild when they drink. We’ve seen them at countless parties and don’t forget the ski trip.”

“I’m not looking to hook up with her. Just need her for a date.”

“I still think you should make a bunch of new drinks, how about one a weekend?”

“Hmm, maybe I will. I grab the cereal and milk, along with my empty bowl, and stand up. “I gotta head out to that meeting. I’ll see you tonight.”

Rhett nods, grabbing the remote and changing the channel to sports news. “Peace out.”

After a quick shower, I walk over to the fraternity house, the big colonial already lively with guys mulling around. Some are hanging out, some are playing hacky sack, and there’s more inside setting up for the meeting.

I find a few of the other senior guys in the kitchen and join them as they run over meeting notes.

“What up, guys? Need any help?” I offer while I grab a can of soda from the fridge.
