Her eyes widened, then she laughed.

“Touché.”

Cody laughed. He liked her. A lot.

“I would like to get to know you, Addison.”

“I’d like that, Cody.”

“I’m hungry again. Do you want to get something?”

“Sure. We can order a pizza. They might deliver here. I’ll call them. What do you want on it?”

“If they have a supreme or meat lovers would be great, but what do you want?”

“That sounds good. Let me call them.” She removed her phone from her back pocket and scrolled through the contacts.

“You have the pizza place on your phone?” he asked with a grin.

“We order a good bit from them at the pharmacy.”

“How long have you been a pharmacist?”

“Four years. I love it. My parents are pharmacists.”

“It’s good to have a job you love.”

“What is it you do?”

“I’m raising bulls for the rodeo now.”

“Now?”

“I’m a retired bull rider.”

“Oh, you’re one of those.” She grinned.

“One of what?”

“Those crazy men who get on an animal that could crush you to death.”

“Oh, one of those. Yep, that’s me. Well, it used to be.”

“Why did you retire?”

“Getting too old for it. It’s hard on a body the older you get.”

“How old are you?”

“Thirty-four. You?”

“Thirty.”

“Vivian mentioned you’re a widow.”

“Yes. Stuart was killed in action in Afghanistan three years ago.”

“I’m so sorry.”
