“Do your parents live in Clifton?”

“No. They’re in Florida. They lived here for years, but Dad has bad arthritis in his knees, so they wanted a warmer climate.”

“Hell, in the winter, anywhere is a warmer climate than Montana.”

Addison laughed. “It seems like it.”

After watching a movie, Addison decided she’d better get going.

“I hate driving after dark. Especially on back roads.”

“Okay, let me walk you out.” He stood, helped her up, and they walked to the kitchen.

She picked up her purse, walked toward the door, but stopped when Cody reached around her and opened it. They stepped onto the porch.

“I had a good time,” she said.

“I did too. Text me your address, and I’ll pick you up on Saturday evening around six. Will that work for you?”

“Yes. Where are we going?”

“I’d like to try the Hartland restaurant. Gray said they have wonderful food.”

“They do, but you need a reservation. Tell Gray to call Grant, and he’ll get us in.”

“Grant?”

“Yes, he owns the restaurant and if it’s busy, he’ll get his friends in, if he can. There are times even he can’t.”

“Nice to have friends in high places, huh?”

“Oh, he’s definitely in high places.”

Cody frowned. “What do you mean?”

“I can’t believe Vivian never told you who Grant was.”

“So, who is he?”

“Grant Hunter.”

“Grant… Hunter? The country singer?”

“Yes. He was born and raised in Clifton. He’s a great guy.”

“I liked his music.”

“He loves running his ranch. He says he doesn’t miss the music industry. Although, once in a while, he’ll show up at Dewey’s and sing with the band.”

“Dewey’s?”

“Cowboy bar in Clifton.”

“Well, maybe we can go there sometime.”

“I’d like that.” She glanced around. “I’d better go.”

“All right. I’ll call you later in the week.”
