“What a watchdog. Of course, with those little legs, I think most people could outrun her.”

“We’re going to have a problem if you keep making fun of my dog.” Addison put her hands on her hips and narrowed her eyes.

Cody chuckled. “Okay, I’ll stop.”

Addison grinned. “Good. We’ll be fine then.”

He slipped his arms around her waist, pulled her close, and pressed his lips to hers. When he raised his head, he kissed her nose.

“I’m hungry. Driving here smelling that pizza was torture.”

“Let’s eat then.” She gazed into his eyes, then put the roses in a vase and set them on the table.

He strode to her, kissed her again, then set the pizza on the table. He lifted the lid and groaned.

“Damn, that smells good.”

“It’s great pizza.” She opened a cupboard and lifted a couple of plates down and set them on the table.

“Are we sitting here?”

“We can go to the living room and find a movie, if that’s all right with you.”

“It’s fine, darlin’. I’ll grab the plates, and you get the pizza and napkins.”

Addison nodded, walked to the roll of paper towels, and tore a few off, then she picked up the pizza box and followed him to the living room where they sat on the sofa. She picked up the remote, turned on the TV, and looked for a movie.

“What do you want to watch?”

“Anything is fine, except chick flicks.”

Addison laughed. “Okay. I’ll find something.”

When they finally agreed on a movie, Addison curled her legs under her on the sofa, and Cody stretched his legs out in front of him. She picked up a slice of pizza, bit into it and moaned.

“This is good,” Cody said as he took another bite.

“It really is for a little hole in the wall place.”

“Tell me more about you,” he said then took another bite.

“You know most of it.”

“Tell me about your grandmother.”

“Nana is the best. I spent a lot of time with her growing up. My parents were always so busy, and instead of hiring a babysitter, I’d stay with Nana.” Addison grinned. “She taught me how to drive the bug when I was twelve.”

Cody chuckled. “So, she’s a bad influence, is that what you’re saying?”

“I want to be her when I grow up.” She laughed.

“I’d like to meet her one day.”

Addison would love to have him meet her family, but she didn’t want them speculating about what her relationship with Cody was because she didn’t even know herself. She knew she wanted to get to know him better, and hoped he wanted the same.

Cody wondered what was going through her mind. She nodded when he said he’d like to meet her grandmother but stayed silent. He touched her hair, and she looked at him.
