“At the MC.” I sit back in my chair and frown. This is weird. Black hat hackers like Socks don’t come out for anything. It’s one thing to be friendly online, but it’s another to want to meet in person. I worked alongside Wire tracking those girls and finding safety for them, but even knowing that he was working for a good cause and in the same town as me, there was no need to ever cross paths again in real life.

Socks’ request is highly unusual in our world. The only reason they would want to do this is because they know something or someone this affects, or they know something that could be dangerous to know.

I stroke my imaginary beard and mustache for a bit, letting all the things I know about Socks cross reference and merge with the things I know from the case we’re working on. It’s not long before I hit a dead end. Without knowing any personal details like age, sex, or location, I can’t knit together all the clues. I have some tentative theories but nothing of note yet.

“Hmmm, I guess we better get to the MC and find out what the hell Socks knows then.” I shrug my shoulders, put on my shoes that I kicked under my desk, and follow my brothers out the door.

We decide to all drive in the same vehicle to save the earth and all that jazz, but that’s as far as we’ve gotten because, as per usual, all three of my brothers want to be the driver. All of them have control issues when it comes to driving.

I’ve already watched Gus win paper scissors rock against Tav, and now we’re down to the last round out of three for Jules and Gus. After a heated debate about whether Gus threw too late, it’s agreed that Jules is the victor and will do the driving. Thank god, otherwise, we’d still be standing on the side of the driveway going nowhere.

We share our theories, chat about how well the new tech we tagged the Dark Rider with works, and we most definitely avoid my burgeoning relationship with Rhodie, which I’m guessing is because no one wants to hear about how happy my vagina is. And she very much is.

I keep getting pussy flashbacks now and then, where a flutter will hit my down belows, and my brain will go straight to an R18 scene. I’m pulled out of another flashback when we drive through the front gates of Devils Rose MC and park up in what I’m thinking is our regular car park. Marx meets us at the front doors and ushers us in. I look around the common room and my eyes land on Rhodie, who is walking right toward me, a big grin on his face. I bob a little in place, as I’m not entirely too sure if I should meet him in the middle or wait for him to get to me. By the time I decide to just go with my gut, he’s already pulling me into his arms for a warm hug before he pulls back and kisses me gently on the lips.

“Hey babe, I missed you,” he whispers against my lips. I snort a little and shake my head at him.

“It’s only been 4 hours and about 32 minutes” I roll my eyes at him and he kisses me on the forehead. I look into the room and see Rider and Wire with big grins on their faces, and Marx gives me a smile and a nod before going back to his conversation with Gus.

Once done, he lets out a loud whistle and the room comes to order.

“Right. For those of you who don’t know, last night, whilst on their date, Rhodie and Chewy were approached by three Death Riders.” A rumble of curses goes around the room.

“Rhodie put down two, Chewy put down another and the Tombs brothers picked him up, tagged him with a tracker and hidden surveillance. Gus, can you tell us what you know?” Marx waves at Gus who steps up next.

“Target went straight back to their compound. Never mentioned a thing to his Pres. Pres never asked anything either. Went to bed then this morning texted who we can only guess are the other two that were with him, stating they needed to meet up outside of the compound. We’re thinking whatever they were doing there has nothing to do with the wider MC.”

Marx rubs his chin whilst nodding.

“I spoke to their Pres Savage. He said they knew this was our territory and should never have been here. He gave no order for surveillance of anyone in Rose Grove. However, he mentioned that there’s been a growing underworld presence on their turf, wondering if he has members playing both MC and mafia. He doesn’t want any beef with us, so he’s going to dig a little and see what his men are up to.”

“That makes sense,” Jules adds. “From what we saw, these three are working independently. We’ll monitor it.”

“I’ll reach out to some of my contacts,” Wire speaks up. “My sister is on their turf. She’s a nurse. If crime has been kicking up there, she’ll know. Usually, people say all sorts of things when they’re off their faces on the good drugs waiting for stitches and shit.” Marx gives him a chin raise in thanks and Wire walks out with his phone to his ear. Marx’s phone goes off and he looks down at it before addressing the room again.

“Looks like our guest has arrived.” We look toward the door; I’m trying to look around my big ass brothers. I can’t wait to see if my theory of Socks being a girl is correct or not. I lean to my side and a small person, probably a couple of inches taller than me, steps into the room, hood pulled over their head, hiding their face slightly. Once in the room, I shove my brothers out of the way.

“Move back, you big bastards! Give Socks some space.” I get close enough to see wide blue eyes that look very familiar looking back at me through blonde hair. A gentle voice says, “Hi Tombstone.”

Chapter 14

Rhodie

“Katya?” I hear Chewy say, and my head whips around. It can’t be. ‘Socks’ removes their hood, long blonde hair falling to mid back. My eyes dart all over her face, taking in an older version of the girl I took to prom.

“Hi, Rhodes.” There is silence in the room, but looking around, I can see the bewildered looks on all my brothers’ faces. Wire has just walked back into the room and has come up short before blurting out,

“Holy shit, it’s you! We’ve been looking all over for you. What the fuck is going on?”

Katya looks around the room, her eyes landing on one of the main tables.

“If we can have a seat, I’ll explain all I know from my end.” She gestures for us to sit. Chewy sits down right next to her. My brother and her brothers also sit, but I have too much nervous energy, so I remain standing with Wire and Rider and a few other brothers. Prospect is still manning the bar and I’m thinking I might need a shot before this kicks off, but before I can make an order, I remember that I’m meant to have a kid out there. I’m about to ask when Katya looks up at me. She tilts her head before giving me a small smile.

“She’s not yours Rhodie. If that’s what you’re worried about.”

“But we had sex. Twice.” She smiles wider this time.

“Ah, yeah, but we also used protection, both times” “
