I headed up to my office to check my emails, but for some reason, my password wasn’t working on my computer. I sighed and scrubbed a hand over my face. This day sucked ass. I needed a do-over. I saw Hunter walk past, glancing at me and pointing to the conference room. I nodded and stood from my chair, ready for our morning meeting.

But when I walked into the room, I stopped in my tracks. Hunter, Sinner, and Rocco stood beside me, all just as confused as I was. All the wives turned toward us, expectant looks on their faces. And at the head of the table was Maggie. She stood, quirking her eyebrow at me.

“Can I help you, Sebastian?”

“Um…we’re ready to start our day.”

She cocked her head to the side. “Well, you better get over to the shop then. Those sex toys won’t sell themselves.”

Then she turned back to the ladies and pointed at the screen. “Now, Cara’s team will take point on this mission…”

The voices around me started to fade, and before I knew it, I was being shuffled into the hallway. I looked up at the other guys, their faces just as grim as mine. What the hell was happening?

“What the hell is going on in there?” I shouted.

“Keep your voice down,” Rocco shushed me, dragging me away from the door. “There has to be a logical explanation for all this.”

“Really?” I asked, really freaking out. “Like what? I would love to hear how you explain that our livelihoods have been taken over by our wives!”

“Yeah, and now we’re just sex toy workers?” Sinner scoffed.

“Really?” Hunter mocked. “That’s the worst part? Maggie’s in there with control over all the weapons. I think that issue is a little more pressing than whether or not we work in a sex shop.”

“No, Sinner’s right,” I nodded. “If we just work in the shop, and the women really have control over Reed Security, we have no way of stopping them.”

Hunter sighed, running his hand over his bald head. “But if we don’t work here, what else has changed in our lives?”

“What do you mean?” Rocco asked warily.

“Were we ever in the military? Do we even know how to hold weapons?”

“Why wouldn’t we?” Sinner asked.

“So much has changed,” I nodded. “What if they were the ones in the military and we were the ones they met. Everything would be different.”

“My rulebook would no longer exist,” Rocco said, a horrified look on his face.

I scrubbed a hand over my jaw. I had no idea where to go from here. If all that was true, how would we pick up the pieces of our lives? “We need to find the guys and talk to them.”

“Yes!” Hunter snapped his fingers. “We find them and see if they’re experiencing the same symptoms.”

“No, we need to talk to Lola. She was the only female that had any idea something was going on.”

We all poked our heads into the conference room. The women were all fully engaged in whatever was going on, but Lola…she looked up at us and actually winked.

“Fuck, did you see that look?” Hunter asked. “I knew she was evil. I should have seen it when I was sleeping with her.”

“You used to sleep with Lola?” Rocco asked. “You never dip your pen in the company ink.”

“Can we focus on the bigger problem?” I snapped. “If Lola has somehow manipulated things and…”

“And what? She remembered the dream and in a matter of hours, took over the company?”

“Wait,” Rocco pulled us back into the hallway. “This is wrong. If Lola was part of the dream, then she would be changed too. This can’t be Lola.”

“Then who?—”

“Hey, guys!”
