“Nox is my favorite of the Fuller brothers, it’s true.”

She couldn’t see his face, but Landon shook his head. Good, maybe he would work in silence now. Everyone was getting on her nerves today, but for the life of her, she didn’t understand why. Sometimes she didn’t understand herself at all.

“Want to grab a drink after work?” Landon asked.

She must’ve misheard him. “I’m sorry?”

“Don’t be. I’m just asking if you want to get a drink with me after our shift?”

“Landon Fuller, not one time have I ever been approachable with you, or even said a kind word. What on God’s green-and-blue Earth would make you think I’m interested?”

“I like it when women play hard to get.” He tossed her a feral smile over his shoulder. “Plus you seem fun. You’ve run through every male in your own Crew.”

“Excuse me?”

“You’ve fucked Lucas, you’ve fucked Gunner, you’re workin’ on Kru. I call next.”

Cadence stood and chucked a stapler at his head before she could control the rage in her. It sailed through the air and came this close to smashing into his face, but the oaf grinned and plucked it from the air just before it hit him. He did it smoothly and easily too. Annoying. She would’ve loved to see him bleed for that comment.

“I’m not running through my Crew,” she defended herself. “And I’m not aiming for Kru!”

“You’re planning a date with him,” he said, standing from his chair. Landon Fuller was an enormous grizzly shifter, and intimidating at full height.

“How? How did you know about my plans?” She’d just made those plans with Kru yesterday, and she hadn’t told anyone.

“You gotta leak in your Crew.”

“Who? Kru?”

Landon’s empty smile stretched bigger. “You. I threw a guess out there, and you told on yourself. I call next.” He angled his face away and strode from the warehouse. “Good luck fixing everything you fucked up.”

Defensively, she called, “I’ll have these labels fixed in no time!”

“I wasn’t talking about the labels,” he said, walking backward. His stupid, stupid smile—like he’d won something.

He was talking about her fucking up her Crew.

“Well, you don’t even have a Crew to fuck up, Landon! No one would even take you!”

“That’s a good thing,” he called over his shoulder. “Everyone is happier this way. I don’t want a Crew.” Truth.

Goddammit. Cadence had done it—she’d let the youngest son of Clinton get to her. Those Fuller boys were born to be pests, and she’d let him get under her skin like a splinter.

She took a sip of her coffee, rejected the urge to spit it out because it was freezing cold, and reloaded the printer with label paper while fuming over all the stupid boys in her life.

Kru belonged to a saber-toothed tiger shifter named Sasha. They had been paired since they were young, and yeah, things had fallen apart for them, but she didn’t understand the details. She didn’t know them! No one did. Only that the only known, viable pair of saber-toothed tiger shifters in the world had separated and gone their own ways. The look on Kru’s face yesterday when she’d said Sasha was hunting him would never leave her memory. He’d gone white as a ghost.

She didn’t like it. Not because she had feelings for Kru…never that. Kru wasn’t her type. Not at all. Never would be. Sure, he was tall and strong and had a freaking eight-pack, but you know? Most shifters had muscles. And sure, he had perfect model hair, and the outline of his dick in those gray sweatpants had been a little attention-grabbing. And sure, he was funny, and messy in the head in all the ways that she could understand, but still…not her type by any means. Wait, where had she been going with this? Oh yeah, she was just angry at Sasha re-entering his life because she had clearly hurt Kru. Probably. And also Cadence’s white tiger was extremely territorial and she didn’t want to make nice with a female saber-toothed tiger shifter in the territory. She wanted to bleed her. Because she’d hurt Kru. Probably.

“Whatcha thinking about?”

“Aaaah!” Cadence jumped about five feet into the air and rounded on Willa. “Where did you come from?”

“I snuck under that flap over there.”

“Why?”

“So we could have this moment, just you and I.”
