I blinked. “Breakfast soup?”

He waved his hand in the air. “Nothing. Just a meal we shared.”

“Did you make her that creamy lemon meat soup?”

“You bet your sweet ass I did.”

“Ugh, I’m so jealous. That’s your best fucking soup.”

He sighed. “Only the best for the best.”

I shook my head softly. “We’re her mates, you know that, right? Her true and fated mates.”

He gazed off into the darkness. “Explains a lot. Like why Hudson is damn near feral around her.”

I chuckled. “You sense it, too?”

He barked with laughter. “I’m surprised the man hasn’t torn himself limb from limb yet.”

I paused. “Do you think it was smart to send him after her?”

He shrugged. “I think that if anyone can convince her to stay at this point, it’s him.”

“I know you feel guilty about Colin’s death. Guiltier than you should feel.”

I turned my back to him as my tears burned. “It happened again, you know.”

He approached me from behind. “What happened?”

I clicked my tongue. “The darkness with the feeling. No vision. No images. Just darkness and dread.”

“When did this happen?”

I scoffed. “The last time I was alone with Raven.”

He bristled. “We should go with Hudson, then. Bring up the rear. For all we know, she’s headed right into a trap.”

“And how are we supposed to figure out what that trap is, Levi?”

He tossed his hands into the air. “Are we just supposed to sit back and let her die, then? Is that what you’re suggesting?”

“Hell no!”

“Then what the hell are you suggesting!?”

I pointed my finger into his chest. “I’m suggesting there are darker forces at play here trying to peel our pack back by the layers! I’m saying that chasing after one girl, even if we care about her, is only going to leave our family more vulnerable. That’s what I’m saying!”

“Then fucking say that next time, because for someone who sees the future so fucking clearly, you sure as hell have a hard time talking about it!”

I growled at him. “You watch your tone of voice with me, pup.”

Levi snarled. “Who the hell are you calling ‘pup?’”

As we stared one another down, all I thought about was Raven. How scared she must feel. How worried she must be. How her guilty must be eating her alive. It was enough to sober me back up, and as I turned my back to Levi, I closed my eyes.

“No one blames you the way you blame yourself,” he said softly.

I shook my head. “Well, maybe they should because if I had listened to my gut instead of going with what Brody had instructed of me that night, maybe Colin would still be alive.”
