“I’m great.”

Mack nodded. “Cool, now, if you’ll excuse me. I got shit to do since I can’t retire.”

“Have a great day, Macklen,” I giggled as I grabbed my purse and headed for the door.

Ember could throw any insult she wanted, but Marcus had done plenty of horrible things. Karma finally came to collect, and I didn’t feel bad about it.

Chapter Twenty-Eight

“As much as I love this thigh thrown over me, I gotta get up.” I kissed Solana’s forehead, hoping to ease her fears.

She was still a nervous wreck every time I left the house. I understood why, but I had never been timid. It happened, and I wasn’t about to sit in the house like a hermit because of it. Business didn’t stop because Tyson threw a tantrum. Thankfully, Gianni had sense enough to realize what Solana and I had was real.

“You sure?” She asked, bouncing her eyebrows. “I think christening the house is a much better idea.”

“We did that already, Princess. I gotta see my Pops today, but we have plans later. It’s plenty of shit for you to do around here.”

Boxes were everywhere in our bedroom and the rest of the house. We received the keys a few days ago. I was happy to be in our forever home, but there was a lot to do. When she didn’t reply, I turned around to see Solana wrapped in the sheet because, underneath it, she was still naked from the night before.

“So that’s my job. Stay home and take care of the house while you take care of everything else?”

“Stop it,” I smiled, swiping at her chin as she pouted.

“Stop what?”

“That downhill spiral you’re headed on. I didn’t mean it like that, and you know it.”

That was her trauma reaction because she wasn’t allowed to do shit for so long. I didn’t need my wife at home to feel more like a man. This was a whole new world, and as long as Solana respected our marriage, she could do whatever she wanted because I planned on doing the same.

“You want to roll with me today?” I offered because Solana, wearing nothing but a smile, had become my Achilles heel.

“No, thank you.”

“Damn, you don’t want to meet your in-laws?”

“Not like this. Are you going to tell them?”

“Yeah, I need to so I need to get on the road because I have plans with my wife tonight.”

“The last time we had plans, you ended up missing,” Solana reminded me.

“Then relax. Lightening won’t strike twice.”

“That’s not funny.”

“I know you’re worried about me, and I love that, but you have to stop stressing. It’s killing me, Sol.”

She sighed before crawling over to where I was sitting. Climbing in my lap, Solana draped her arms around my neck.

“We wouldn’t want that, now would we?”

“No, so can you hold it down for me?” My last words were smothered on her lips before I kissed her chin and moved down her neck.

Solana’s head fell back, welcoming kisses, and when I reached her shoulder, she stuttered, mumbling, “I’ll do anything for you.”

My brow shot up. “Anything?” then kissed her chest.

“Yes, baby. Anything,” Solana cooed as my hand slid up her back to the base of her neck, forcing her to look at me.
