“I’m glad I could make it too.” I pulled away, seeing her face light up when none other than my parents walked up.

I clenched my jaw so hard; I wouldn't have been surprised if I had cracked a tooth. What the hell was going on? Seeing them two times in less than three months was more than I had seen them in ten years. That was two times too many, and I worried what this meant. My parents always did something with intent, I just had to find out what it was.

“Son, it’s so good to see you!” My mother put on a show of the ever-loving and doting mother.

“Hello,” I said, trying to keep my voice neutral.

“Easton!” I turned around to see a woman walking to me, instantly making me smile.

Patrick’s younger sister came running towards me.

“Hello, gorgeous!” I opened my arms to her, and she jumped right in.

This was the first real smile I’d given since I got here. Chloe was an amazing person. She was sweet, kind and extremely loving, the complete opposite of her brother and mother.

“It’s been way too long, and my friend is here, you definitely have to meet her,” Chloe said, grabbing my hand. “She’s set to inherit the casinos in Vegas and a few around the world.”

“Sierra?!” My mother all but squealed.

“The one and only,” she yelled a little too enthusiastically, pulling me away, saving me from saying hello to my father.

“I was trying to get to you before you had to say hello to the wicked witch,” she said, looking back at me with a big smile.

“I love you, Chloe,” I said, following her to a gorgeous woman.

She was the epitome of class, equipped with a golden stick up her ass. Her RBF was on point, and I pulled Chloe away wondering how this was better than my mother.

“Sierra!” Chloe yelled and her face instantly turned into a smile.

“Oh, thank fuck, can we leave already?” she said, glaring at me like she was ready to take off until she saw our hands together.

“No, but I do want you to meet Easton,” she said, presenting me like I was a pig at a fair with her hands flared out. I’m pretty sure she was trying to do jazz hands. “His mother and father are assholes just like yours and I just saved him from them.”

“Oh, hell!” She hugged me, giving me a kiss on each cheek. “I charge if I have to make it look like we are well acquainted.”

“Excuse me?” I said in shock.

“Oh, no. He just needed a reason to get away from his mother,” Chloe announced for me.

“Oh, ok,” she said, smiling at me.

It was on the tip of my tongue to ask if she was an escort, or what the hell she was doing charging wealthy men when she had a fortune of her own money.

“Just ask,” Chloe said with a smirk.

“Oh, hell no. I don’t want to offend the woman who is saving my ass,” I said, shaking my head.

Sierra laughed. “Oh, I like you but since I can see the question in your eyes and you look like you hate high society, I’ll tell you. Men pay me to act like their girl until their parents back off.”

“How the hell does that work out?” I asked.

“Simple. You basically rent me for a certain amount of days and we make it look real, then we break up in a tragic way or we simply just find out we aren’t compatible,” she said, drinking from her flute. “My parents lay off me and so do their parents.”

“Wow, is it a lucrative business?” I was genuinely interested.

“Like you wouldn’t believe,” she said with a smirk.

“Well should I leave a tip?” I asked.
