“Easton,” Noemi cried, after getting on the floor with him.

They threw their arms around each other, and I hugged both of them. They kissed, pulling me in to kiss them too. It was everything I ever wanted and more. A shot at a life that I didn’t expect, but I was willing to fight for.

“Easton!” A woman yelled, coming into the room.

I looked over the bed, seeing a woman and a little girl together.

“Charlene?” Easton looked around.

“Uncle!!” The small girl said before running towards us, throwing herself at Easton.

He grunted, but held her close.

“I've been worried sick, what the hell happened?” The woman yelled at him looking at us on the floor.

I got up first, getting Noemi up and onto the chair then getting Easton up on the bed with his niece.

“Charlene, this is Noemi and Vincent,” he made introductions.

She smiled tightly at us at first until her eyes widened at Noemi, but her real focus was Easton.

“I got jumped outside of a bar.” Easton finally explained what happened, telling her what was wrong with him, but he left out the whole ordeal with his parents. “They took my phone, and I only woke up in the middle of the night.”

“Jesus Christ, Easton,” his sister said, hugging him while crying. “I figured you got held up with her, but I never expected this to happen.”

“How did you find out?” Easton asked, holding on to her.

“I suggested the hospital call your emergency contact and I’m glad it was your sister,” I said, grateful they were able to get ahold of her, still wondering how the hell his parents were called to the hospital if they weren’t his emergency contact. It confirmed to me that they had something to do with his attack.

Easton and his sister visited for another thirty minutes while I worked on some emails. Noemi fell asleep on the sofa as they chatted, and I watched her to make sure she wasn’t in any pain.

“So that’s Noemi?” his sister asked, as she got up.

“That’s her,” he said, looking at her with a dreamy expression.

“Is it serious?”

“I’m going to marry her,” he said, but glanced at me like he was asking if it was ok.

His sister didn’t miss the look.

“I’m going to be honest with you and I hope you don’t freak out, but we are all together,” Easton said, looking a little green from his confession.

“Ok and?” His sister didn’t look shocked or even remotely surprised.

I chuckled when it hit Easton that she had no problem with us being together.

“I expected a different reaction.” Easton glared at me, but I could see that he was relieved that she was taking it so well.

“I’m not them, Easton. I’ll never turn you away because I don’t agree with how you live your life. You want to be with fifty people, that is your business and not my own,” she said, cupping his face. “As long as you are happy, that’s all that I ask for. You are amazing and you deserve to be happy too.”

“So does that mean I get aunt and uncle?” his niece said, and I couldn’t help the laugh that escaped.

“If they will have me, you might get another aunt and uncle,” he said, his face getting red.

“I hear you can get married to multiple people in Brazil,” I said, thinking that sounded like a great idea.

Easton looked at me like he was ready to say ‘fuck it’ and go get married. He spoke with his sister for a few minutes before she said her goodbyes and she told me to take care of him. Noemi woke before she left and said goodbye a little awkwardly. I liked his sister, and I was glad Easton had someone as amazing as her in his corner.
