“River will be with you in a moment. Do you want a drink?”

“I’m fine, thanks.” I glanced out the window, checking Craig wasn’t about to come bowling inside with his men-in-black routine.

River glided out with a client and handed them over to Carmel.

“Sweetie, it’s been too long.” He gestured me into a room at the back.

He opened my file on the counter next to the couch. “It’s been what? Six months? Have you noticed much regrowth?”

“More on my legs than anything.”

“Hmmm. They can be tougher as they are finer. But it’s easier with dark hair because I know your collar doesn’t match your cuffs.” He gestured at my wig.

I told him I dyed my hair when I started coming here for laser treatments. Waxing frequently was a pain, so I saved up for the laser course for my legs and bikini line. Now, I just did six monthly top-ups.

“I’ll leave you to change, and you can tell me all about those men that pant over you. You still haven’t taught me any of your moves.”

I chuckled. Once he left, I stripped down to put on the gown. There was a commotion outside, and the door burst open. Sean rushed inside, holding River by the neck, who sputtered, turning red.

“Sean!”

“You better not have seen my woman undressed!” he fumed.

“Sean! He’s my laser technician. Put him down!” I grabbed Sean’s arm, and the gown fell from my hands, leaving me in just my bra.

Sean growled and dropped River, yanking me against him and snatching a towel off the side.

“Put your fucking clothes on!”

“I was putting on a gown when you burst in here.”

“Your pussy is on show.”

“That’s the idea with laser hair removal. Why did you think it was so smooth?”

His eyes darkened. “Your arse is going to pay for that. I’m not okay with having another man see what’s mine.”

“We’ve been through this, Sean. I’m a fucking stripper. Half the country has seen the goods.”

He growled again, a full-on primal noise.

“Don’t you growl at me. River is gay. He’d rather look at drywall than my foo-foo.”

“It’s true,” River gasped, clambering to his feet.

“I’m so sorry.” I grimaced at him.

“Don’t apologise to him!” Sean barked.

“Well, you aren’t going to.”

River looked more amused than frightened. “I take it you’ve got a new man then, sweetie?”

“Don’t give her a pet name,” Sean growled.

I rolled my eyes at that.

“I still need my laser,” I said to Sean.
