We watched television there.

Together.

As pack.

But I knew Cass had a tablet. I never asked Landon if he had one but assumed he had. What his sister had, he had, and vice versa.

His sister had a mate. An actual mate.

My head jerked back in realization. He wouldn’t fake it, would he?

Cass called for him to come help her, and he got up to do so. I watched him walk back to the house. He was so familiar to me, with blond hair like Cass and broad shoulders. He wasn’t as tall as Cannon nor as muscly, but he wasn’t unappealing.

Why was I comparing Landon with him? I needed to stop thinking about that man. Landon wasn’t as tall or as broad as my brother. There, that was better. Healthier.

The twins came out whispering, and I strained to hear them, but they stopped. Cass set down my bottle of red and her topped-up glass of white. Landon had a tray with his beer on it and a platter of cold meats, cheeses, and grapes with some pretzels.

“Gone are the days of a bag of chips and some candy,” I remarked as I looked at the artfully decorated platter.

“I’m mated now,” Cass said as she sat. “I have a reputation to uphold. Oh, Landon, just scoot closer to Kezia so you can get some food. She doesn’t mind.”

She did mind. A lot. But Landon was already setting his chair beside mine.

“This okay?” he asked me.

“Sure.” I forced a smile. “Why wouldn’t it be?”

Like times before, Cass quickly took over the conversation, asking me where I had been, who I’d met, and what did I do? Had I really fought for money?

I noticed Landon’s alarm at that, and I felt a quick sense of glee as I remembered I’d beaten his ass too.

“Yes, I did. It’s good money,” I told her, draining my second glass. “I need more.” I refilled a little higher than was polite, but neither stopped me.

“Wow, you fought as human?” she asked me, her eyes wide.

“No, while they shit themselves in fear, I shifted to my wolf and fought them like that.” Landon choked on his beer, and I absentmindedly hammered his back as he coughed. “Of course as a human, only as a human,” I added sharply when I saw her about to ask more questions. “Talk about something else,” I muttered, drinking more.

“How many did you kiss?” she asked with a gleam in her eye as her brother dropped his head.

“None.” I felt them both staring at me. “I’ve kissed no human.”

I heard Landon gulp. “And shifter? Have you…” He cleared his throat roughly. “Have you?”

“Yes.”

He gave me a jerky nod. “I have, um…too.”

I raised an eyebrow, enjoying watching him squirm. “I’ve heard,” I told him. “It was a lot more than kissing too, wasn’t it?”

Landon went bright red, looking to his sister for help in his panic.

Cass, like the slippery eel she can be, let out a forced laugh. “Well, this took a turn,” she said. “Let’s talk about something else.” She suddenly clapped her hands in delight. “We should have a party.”

“Why?” I asked.

“We should?” Landon asked at the same time.

The two of us exchanged a look because Cass was already on her feet. “Landon, you run to the store. I need more booze.” She was already on her way into the house. “I need to talk to Kris, of course. Kezia, you?—”
