“Okay.” When I thought he was asking me for a ride home, I wasn’t sure why, but I was willing to see how it might play out. “Why hasn’t he told me that?”

“He’s afraid your brother might get annoyed if he asks you out.”

That makes me instantly bluster. “My brother doesn’t factor into my dating.” I’ve always said I wouldn’t date a hockey player, but that’s not because it might bother my brother in some sort of way. It’s because they all have big egos.

I glance back. Crew is whispering something in Dani’s ear and she’s giggling. My brother isn’t even aware I exist right now, so I have no idea why he would have any opinion about who I do what with.

“Then you should come home with us.”

“I…”

I should say no. I have so much work to do.

“You can work tomorrow,” Cameron says, like he just pulled a Vulcan mind meld on me. “Let’s have some fun for a few hours.”

Fun sounds… fun.

“The three of us?” I ask, because I need clarification for my nipples and my suddenly damp inner thighs. I have no idea when my pussy got wet, but it absolutely is.

Cameron nods.

Then suddenly Alexsei strolls up to us, clapping his large hand on Cameron’s shoulder. “Thanks for waiting.”

He smells like soap, and his suit jacket is straining at the shoulders. He’s a big man. He gives me an easy smile. “Hi, Luna. How’s it going?”

He doesn’t look like he wants to ask me out or ravage my naked body. He just looks like Alexsei. Upbeat. Confident. Extremely good-looking.

“It’s going,” I say, then give myself a mental eye roll.

What the hell was that?

Pulling it together, I say, “Cameron invited me to go home with you guys. For sex. And pancakes.”

Alexsei’s eyebrows shoot up. Then he grins. “Oh, yeah? Did you say yes?”

Feeling on more sure footing with Alexsei, who is easy to read, I give a nonchalant shrug. “I didn’t answer him yet.”

Alexsei reaches out and flips the ends of my hair and winks. “You should say yes.”

I think about going home alone to my apartment above the bakery, where I haven’t done laundry or dishes all week. I picture scrolling on my phone, unable to sleep because my brain is spinning with to-do lists before heading downstairs to obsessively check inventory or clean the oven again. I may be a lousy personal housekeeper, but my kitchen in the bakery is sparkling clean.

Dani will be at Nathan’s apartment getting railed by three guys.

I could be getting railed by two guys.

“Sex is a great stress reliever,” I tell Alexsei.

He nods, suddenly solemn. “It really is. Do you need that, baby?”

I glance over at my best friend. Dani is now kissing Michael Hughes, his hand possessively on the small of her back. She’s glowing. Her skin looks like an Instagram ad for beauty products. When I looked in the mirror this morning, my skin was dull and lifeless and I swear I’m losing my hair. I even walked past my vibrator and ignored it because I wanted to get my dough proofing by six.

If that isn’t stressed, I don’t know what is.

I nod. “I need that. I really need that.”

“Then let us take care of you,” Cameron says.

God, something in his voice just makes everything in me say yes, please.
