“I prefer you naked, but if you must wear something, I’ll allow this.” I lift her hand with the engagement ring and brush my lips over her knuckles, then rub my thumb over the ring and lean closer to whisper into her ear. “The second we get home I want you naked on my bed while I feast on your pussy.”

“You’re crazy.” Although she’s saying that her eyes are filled with desire and that hunger I crave.

“Maybe, but you missed me again while I was gone. Didn’t you?” I beam down at her.

She bites the inside of her lip and looks me up and down while I wait patiently for her answer. At least she’s not saying no as quickly as she did last time.

“Am I supposed to miss you?”

God, I love that smart mouth. No one else would dare speak to me like that.

“Yes.” I raise my palms and she glances at my hands.

“Did you miss me?”

I lean closer and savor the sight of the blush creeping into her cheeks. “Yes.”

My answer surprises her and she stares back at me hesitantly, trying to decide if I’m joking with her or not. I’m not.

“Well, people who supposedly miss each other usually stay in touch,” she informs me in a matter-of-fact tone, raising her gorgeous chin. “At the very least, they know if the other is dead or alive. They also don’t need to relay messages through their custodians and/or their drivers.”

She’s about to continue chewing me out but I lean down and kiss her, stopping her next words.

I’m not the kind of guy to kiss in public but I kiss her because I’m dying to and I’m starving for her lips.

Whispers erupt around me and in my periphery I catch flashes from cameras going off, meaning we’ll be in the news tomorrow. At least they’ll have a better picture of us actually together, unlike the one in the press release about our engagement.

When I pull out of the kiss shock dances in Luna’s eyes, and that soft rose color that makes her look ethereal brightens her cheeks.

“Next time you want me to call you, just say so.” I brush my lips over hers again. “Understand?”

She stares back at me for a few beats, looking thrown that I figured her out so quickly. “Yes.”

“Come, it’s time for you to meet my family.”

Luna looks around nervously at all the women in their gowns who are casting glances our way and whispering. People talk about me so much I don’t care anymore. I don’t even see them.

She’s a senator’s daughter, but she’s in my world now. This is different.

“Will they like me?” she mumbles when she looks back at me.

“They already do.”

The cloud of doubt drifts away from her eyes and she looks more like herself.

I put my hand out for her to come closer to me and she does, taking my arm.

I guide her to where I know my family will be and I’m glad Luna doesn’t see Ryan gawking at us. At her.

Like everyone else he would have seen that kiss, but that’s not why I did it.

Eyes follow us as we walk away, but all I care about is getting to the end of the night when I can take Luna home and have her all to myself.

Chapter 19

Hunter

“Looks like everything is going as planned,” Dominic says in a stiff tone, looking me over with that smug expression I loathe.
