I let out a growl of annoyance and place the phone back to my ear.

“What the fuck do you want, Lionel?” My heart races as sweat begins to bead on my flesh.

“I’m curious about what I received today. A restraining order. Why do you think I’d hurt you, Alexis? I’m your fiancé.”

“You’re nothing to me but a mistake. One I’m thankful I realized in time. But I guess I have you to thank for that. It was your indiscretion that knocked sense into me.”

My blood boils, and I go to hang up, but a small ounce of reason slips in. I know him calling me is his downfall—he just admitted the restraining order has been served.

“You really are a slut, aren’t you? Letting those thugs have their hands all over you. Did you open your legs to them both?” He slurs his words, letting me know he’s been drinking.

“We’re done. Don’t call me again, Lionel. I’m blocking you again and just to remind you, you’re in violation of the order. This isn’t something dear old daddy can help you out of.”

He lets out a cold, evil laugh, like a villain does in horror movies.

“You’re such a stupid bitch if you think that order means anything to me. The people you should be worried about are the ones you’re whoring yourself to. Do you even know anything about them?”

I don’t want to hear anything more. He’s trying to fucking manipulate me, hoping it will send me running back into his arms.

It won’t. No matter how hard he tries.

Ending the call, I quickly block the newest number, removing his ability to contact me. The relief is instant, knowing I am buying at least a little time that he won’t be able to call me.

As much as I hate it, I begin to wonder what he meant. I don’t know everything about them. And I have wondered if they’re keeping something from me. Maybe we need to have a conversation about it tonight.

I scream, pissed off that Lionel is succeeding in what he wanted to do—casting doubt. I refuse to let him win.

My phone vibrates and my entire body tenses, my hands shaking as I glance at the screen. The fear lifts when I see it’s Dimitri.

Dimitri: Hey babe. Are you okay with me picking you up a little early?

Me: Sure? And what did I do to deserve more time with you?

Dimitri: Just being you. Plus I’ve missed you.

Me: You know just what to say to make a girl swoon.

Dimitri: Only you babe. Seriously I just wanted to spend some time with you before Donovan comes over.

Me: Sure I’d love it.

Dimitri: Perfect on my way.

Getting up, I head straight to my bedroom to change and pack an overnight bag. I’m hoping to spend a night at Donovan’s as well, so I pack an extra set of clothes.

I push all thoughts of Lionel and his attempts to cast doubt into the farthest recesses of my mind and lock them away. He’s not going to ruin what I have with Donovan and Dimitri.

“Can I ask you a question?” I glance up at Dimitri from where I’m lying on his couch.

“Yes.” Dimitri continues massaging my foot, and fuck, it’s igniting a fire inside of me. I moan and rub my thighs together. Any touch from the two of them has that kind of effect on me.

“Do I know everything about you?”

He raises his eyebrow, not speaking for a moment.

“Well, for only knowing each other for a short time, I think we know each other pretty well. But I’m sure there are things you don’t know. It takes time to do that and we’re still learning and getting closer. Plus, you’re getting to know two people instead of just one.”

“Okay.”
