Levi shrugged, taking a seat on the couch and flinging both thick, well-muscled arms across the back of it. "You'll find that while my work is impeccable, I care little for the formalities of business."

Elias rounded the desk, taking that as a segue and glancing out the twenty-foot wall of windows on the opposite side of the space. A long line of shutters hovered over them, keeping the office cool and shrouding the two of them in shadow as Elias sat down on the other couch.

Levi's eyes never left Elias' frame, trailing up and down, up and down until he was certain the alpha was intimately familiar with every curve of him. He tried not to let it unnerve him as he lifted one leg up to rest on his knee just to stop himself from bouncing.

"So," he said, voice stronger than he thought it'd be. "Weston, as in Weston Construction?"

"Correct. My father is the CEO and owner, while I maintain contracts as his senior technical advisor. I'm here today to discuss the new lab your company will build next year."

Elias gain some perspective focusing on work as he nodded. "Yes. It's a little early for cost proposals, though. You're on top of it."

Shit. Bad choice of words.

"I'm on top of a lot of things," Levi quipped, brows raised over a serpentine smile. "This is only one of them. Here."

Out of his briefcase, the alpha pulled a thick manila file that read Deaton Medical Proposal. Elias snatched it out of the man's hand, scowling. It was over fifteen pages full of statistics he couldn't focus on right now, but damn, did he try.

"So you want in on this first before the other sharks come circling, am I right?" he asked, keeping his gaze on the numbers.

If Elias read them now, he could pull on them later when he really needed to go over the proposal. Perks of having a photographic memory. Plus, it gave the illusion that he was calm and collected when he felt anything but.

Levi chuckled. "That's right. Have you received any other offers?"

Elias shook his head. "You're early."

"Early bird gets the worm."

He glanced up at that, eyes searching the alpha's still-cheeky gaze. Levi's tone was lower now—trying to portray something. The alpha's fathomless eyes were darker than a raven's wing, yet sparkled beyond anything Elias had ever seen. Even the blue, crystal gaze of the man who'd fucked him earlier couldn't compare.

"It sure does," he replied, tongue twisting.

Thankfully, the words left his mouth without a single trip up, only heavier because of the atmosphere. He couldn't detect his own scent, but the alpha's pheromones were invigorating compared to Ian's subtle ones. Gasoline. Wood smoke. Leather polish with biting mint on the very back end. Something that made you want to savor it, inhale just a little longer, go a little further.

Elias sat back on the couch. Levi's proposal came into focus past the scents, and it was actually worthwhile. Weston Construction almost always was. They might've even been his first choice despite this impromptu meeting.

He wondered if there was some hidden motive for his visit. It would make sense why an alpha of this man's caliber would come here and wait for an omega, of all people, to return, no matter Elias' reputation.

Individuals were familiar with him for his straightforward nature in the industry. From handling tough executives to blacklisting companies from Deaton Medical grounds for inappropriate or sexist behaviors. It led those working for them to walk on eggshells, but he quite liked that. At least it was better than being the one waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Levi followed his lead, crossing his ankle over his knee to match Elias' posture. Elias was cowed deep inside by the oppressive attention, but he lifted his chin, raising a brow so the other man would speak first. It was petty, but Elias had long ago accepted that part of himself.

While Elias was one of the most well-known CFOs in Hamton because of his close work with neighboring hospitals and related medical businesses, he was a force to be reckoned with. A man no other higher-ups wanted to deal with unless it was imperative. He wouldn't be changing that for a handsome face.

As if realizing just how stubborn of a person he was dealing with, Levi dropped his arms from the back of the couch and leaned forward.Resting his forearms on his knees, the alpha released a long breath, narrowing his gaze. "I'd like to ensure Weston Construction is the front runner for this project, which is why I came here today."

Elias tilted his head. "I don't have any supplemental materials created, which means no one will get a leg up, not even you. However, you'll be the first one considered when the time comes."

Levi grinned, watching as Elias got up and took the closed files to his desk. He sensed the alpha's gaze piercing his back.

"Does that mean I owe you a favor?"

Elias shrugged, turning to prop his ass against the edge of the desk, face impassive. "I don't like debts, on either side. Let's call it professional kindness."

Levi clasped ring-clad hands dangling between his knees together, contemplating Elias' words. The sly grin he sported never wavered. Not even when the alpha chuckled, glancing at him.

"You're something else. I heard rumors, but didn't exactly believe them."

Elias' lips turned down at the corners. "Is that supposed to be a compliment?"
