Kody pressed their lips together and while he was still confused, he didn’t let that stop him from kissing Kody. He would never refuse a kiss from Kody.

“You’re right. He is cute,” Cora said.

Kody chuckled against Ace’s lips and when he pulled back, Ace found himself chasing the man’s mouth for just one more kiss. He could never get enough. Kody was intoxicating. Addictive.

“No threesomes,” Kody said with a shake of his head. “Cora’s my best friend. She just meant that she’s a professional third-wheeler.”

“Bitch,” Cora said under her breath.

Ace glanced at Cora, relieved when she smiled at him.

“Disappointed?” Kody asked, a teasing look in his eyes.

Ace shook his head. “No. Not at all.”

Kody’s smile widened and Ace felt his heart flutter. It really was Kody’s fault. The man made his heart all wonky.

“I’ll grab us something to drink and then Cora can tell us what Ollie’s done to piss her off now,” Kody said.

Cora dropped her head back with a loud groan.

“How did you know?”

Kody arched a brow at her and said, “What? That you have your own little rivals-slash-friends-to-lovers thing going on?”

Cora flipped him off with both hands while saying, “In his dreams.”

Kody laughed and wagged his brows at her, then turned and headed into the kitchen. Cora’s smile dropped the second he was out of sight, and she turned to Ace.

“If you hurt him, I will kill you,” she said, staring him down.

Usually, this was where he made a joke, but he got the distinct feeling she was being serious, and considering what an asshole Kody’s ex was, he could understand why.

“You’d better,” he said.

Hurting Kody was unthinkable. Logically, he knew that people hurt each other without meaning to, but he couldn’t imagine ever doing something to actively hurt Kody. He would rather die.

Cora eyed him curiously, but she didn’t say anything until Kody returned. He handed Ace a beer and when he went to give Cora hers, she leaned in and said, “I like him,” then winked at Ace.

He liked her, too. It was nice to know that Kody had someone like her in his corner.

CHAPTER TEN

Ace

HE HAD his feet up on a table and wasn’t surprised when Jace pushed them off when he walked past his booth. He grunted when his feet hit the floor and glared at the back of Jace’s head. Jace flipped him off over his shoulder without looking and Ace found himself smiling.

“You know you’re supposed to be working, right?” Kaz drawled with a dark brow raised.

Kaz was sitting across from him, his laptop and a steaming mug on the table between them.

“And you’re supposed to be doing your homework,” Ace fired back.

Kaz made a face at him and said, “I am doing my homework.”

Kaz was decidedly not doing his homework. He’d been on his phone for the past ten minutes. Was he doing much better himself? No. He was too busy thinking about Kody to get up and help Jace get the bar ready for tonight’s customers. It wasn’t his fault that someone thought he’d be the best replacement for Chris while he and Diesel were off to visit Diesel’s brother at his college.

The roar of a bike pulling up in front of the bar had him walking to the window. He spotted Steel and Kai in the parking lot as they were getting off Steel’s bike, and the second they entered the bar, he was ready.
