Fuck. He’d forgotten about the damned shirt already.

He made a frustrated groan that drew Cora’s attention.

“Nooo,” she exclaimed. “That’s your ‘I wanna have sex’ sound. I’m not here for that.”

She took off toward the door to the clubhouse, leaving Kody trying very hard not to laugh.

“Should I be worried that your best friend knows that?”

Kody shook his head and grabbed a handful of Ace’s stupid shirt to pull him closer so he could slam his mouth over his.

Ace

Walking inside, he tried to keep his hands to himself, but he couldn’t. How could he not touch Kody when he was right next to him? When that perfect ass was within grabbing range?

Kody batted his hands away and said, “No. Horny jail for you. Go away.”

Ace chuckled and put his hands up, letting Kody walk up to Cora without him.

Several of the Kings were there along with their kids. Juno’s kid whose name he couldn’t remember was drooling over Mia, following her around like a lovesick puppy. Saint and Nash’s daughter was sitting on the couch with a book, her pink headphones so big it looked like they were trying to swallow her head.

Their son, Miles, was walking through the room, closely followed by Kaz. Ace cocked his head to the side while he watched the two of them. Miles looked annoyed with Kaz. Not that he could blame him. Kaz was such a little shit. He loved him, but that didn’t make him any less of a little shit.

He could see Kaz’s mouth moving and whatever he said had Miles spinning around and slamming his fist into Kaz’s nose.

He winced, though he wasn’t surprised when Kaz laughed. That kid was fucked up.

Miles took off and Kaz went to follow just as someone walked past Ace.

“I am gonna kill that kid,” Jace said, a growl in his voice.

Once Kaz noticed Jace heading toward him, he came to a sharp halt and his shit-eating grin disappeared instantly. It took a lot to piss Jace off and the kid was well aware that he’d just messed up good. He cast his gaze to the ground and Ace knew he hadn’t even entertained the idea of running away. The kid was a fighter. Not a runner.

He couldn’t tell what Jace was saying to Kaz, but the kid seemed more relaxed when Jace tugged him toward the kitchen. Probably to fix that nosebleed.

“You what?” a booming voice sounded.

He turned to see Saint with his hands on his hips standing in front of Miles who rolled his eyes at him. Teenagers. He had a feeling that Kaz and Miles’ parents would have their work cut out for them where those two were concerned.

He looked around the room and smiled the second his gaze found Kody. He was standing with Cora who had her phone out, either taking pictures or a video of him to document him wearing the shirt for their colleagues. From what he’d been told by Cora, they all found it hilarious. Ollie was on shift tonight, but he was sure the man would’ve been there to enjoy Kody’s embarrassment in person if he’d had the opportunity.

He straightened when he saw Saint heading toward him.

“Hey,” Saint said, shaking Ace’s hand. “Sorry ‘bout the kids.”

Ace barely held back a snort.

“No worries. I’d wager Jace is more mad at Kaz than Miles for that hit. Kid’s got a nice right hook, though.”

Saint blew out a breath. “I wish I could say that I regret teaching him that.”

Ace gave Saint’s shoulder a squeeze and said, “Never regret teaching someone to defend themselves. We know better than anyone how dangerous the world really is.”

“Yeah, we sure do. While we’re on that topic, I wanted to tell you in person. We found Evelyn.”

He held his breath as he waited for Saint to elaborate.

“She’s alive. We don’t know about the baby, though. She’s gonna be a lot harder to find, but we’ve got some people on it.”
