Ollie threw up his hands and said, “Happily.”

Once he’d turned around and was heading off, Cora turned Kody’s face back toward her.

“Now, about your bad boy,” she said.

Kody wrapped his fingers around her wrists and tugged her hands away.

“He’s not my anything, Cor.”

“But he could be,” Cora said, wagging her brows suggestively.

“No.”

“Oh, come on. You need some good dick after what you’ve been through.”

Well, she wasn’t exactly wrong there. He didn’t tell her as much, though.

“I’m gonna get you some bad boy dick,” Cora sang.

“Please don’t.”

No matter how much he protested, he couldn’t lie to himself. He was attracted to Ace. The man was hot as hell. He was sweet too. A reckless idiot, but an adorable reckless idiot.

A groan fell from his lips, and he dropped his head back.

“Why am I into idiots?” he muttered to himself.

CHAPTER THREE

Ace

HE WAS confused. Okay, not confused confused. Just… regular confused. Maybe? Fuck. He was so out of his depths with this.

He walked into the clubhouse, looking around but finding the place empty save for Texas who was standing by the bar, scrolling on his phone.

Well, guess Tex was as good as anyone to ask.

“Hey,” he said as he walked up next to Texas.

“Hey,” Texas said, not looking up from his phone. He was probably looking at pictures or videos of his kid. He did that a lot. He’d never really thought of Tex as someone who’d be a father one day, but the guy was loving every second of it.

“So.” He shifted his weight from one foot to the other, his hands sweaty as all hell. He tried to dry them off in his jeans, but it didn’t seem to work. “Can I ask you about something?”

Texas looked up at him and raised a brow before saying, “No, you can’t have your music privileges reinstated. D would kill me.”

“Oh, um…”

Texas turned to face him, brows snapping together.

“That’s not what you were gonna ask, was it?”

Panic hit him and he squeaked out, “Yes. Of course, it was. What else would I have asked you about?”

Texas narrowed his eyes and crossed his arms.

“Oh, I don’t know. Maybe something about a certainsexy firefighter?”

Just the mention of Kody had Ace’s blood thrumming. Fuck. Shit.
