“No… no… more… no more… drinkies.” I tried to shove it away, but at the last second, I turned my face and threw up on what I assumed was the sidewalk as someone held back my hair.

Once I was done, I leaned back against the headrest, and only then did I feel a napkin wiping my mouth.

“Hmm…” I moaned, inhaling a very familiar scent.

My hazy gaze locked with theirs, and even through my drunk daze, I saw two bright blue eyes that would forever haunt my dreams stare back at me.

“Elias,” I slurred, and then…

Everything went black.

CHAPTER FIVE

CAPRI

“Love is the longing for the half of ourselves we have lost.” —Milan Kundera

“Oh God,” I groaned in pain, immediately grabbing the pillow and wrapping it around my pounding head.

Within seconds, I tried to remember what the hell happened last night before I shot straight up in bed, instantly grabbing my chest and frantically looking around the room to see where I was.

To my complete and utter surprise, I was actually in my bedroom, in my own bed, wearing only a white tank top and panties.

“What the fuck?” I mumbled to myself.

My panicked stare shifted to my cell phone on my nightstand, with my purse beside it. I grabbed my phone as if it had all the answers I was searching for, and there was a text from Ava.

Ava

I hope you had a great time last night.

However, that wasn’t what spiked my confusion. It was the fact that she was replying to my “I’m home” text that I sure as hell didn’t send. At least I didn’t think I did.

How the hell did I get home? Who changed me out of my clothes and put me in my bed?

The moment the question arose in my mind was the second I remembered Elias’s masculine scent and bright blue eyes gazing back at me as if he was looking at me right then and there.

I must have hallucinated that.

Did Felix take me home? How did he know where I lived?

It didn’t make any sense. None of it did. I cautiously got out of bed like the person who drove me home was hiding in my room or something. My dress from last night was on the ottoman, along with the wedge sandals I wore.

“What in the actual fuck?”

After washing away the night’s drunkenness, I entered the kitchen and ran into my mother.

“You’re finally awake.” She smiled. “You must have gotten home late last night.”

I was beyond grateful that this place was basically a castle, and my bedroom was on the far end of the house. Farthest away from my parents' room.

“Yeah.” That was all I could reply. So much for the thought that maybe she put me to bed.

“You feeling okay?”

“Mm-hmm…”

“You look hungover. Want me to make you a latte or coffee?”
