“Something like that.”

“Ugh… this is so embarrassing. I haven’t even spoken to him about it. My mom had to. Maybe I should leave?”

She was too late. As soon as the last word left her mouth, Alpha CEO stepped inside my office.

CAPRI

Dad declared, “We’re all adults, Capri.”

Someone shoot me now.

“Despite how much I don’t want to discuss your adventurous personal choices, my hands are tied, and I have no choice but to involve myself.”

Again… shoot me now.

I nodded, turning around. “Hi, Daddy.”

He stood by the door and then sat down.

We spent the next two hours searching hell and high water for any answer on how to tackle this situation. The last thing I wanted was for it to come to this, but in the end, I had no choice.

There I sat for the rest of the day, trying to find a solution with two of the most important men in my life. I hated these circumstances, but what truly mattered to me was that they came together to make sure I was protected in any way they could.

I think that was the first time I realized how much they were alike and how much they both loved me. It didn’t matter how many years I lost with both of them. All that mattered was that we still had decades to make up for it. I didn’t want it to happen this way.

However, everything happens for a reason, and I was a firm believer in that. The moment I started to doubt that we would find the answers to this scandal was the second the person we least expected…

Called my cell phone.

CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE

ELIAS

“To love is nothing. To be loved is something. But to love and be loved, that’s everything.” —T. Tolis

I called a meeting.

Except this meeting wouldn’t include any of my partners or employees. It was Capri, me, her father, Kyle, and the truth. All it took was one lie for Kyle to show up. We were in a neutral setting. The last thing we needed was any distractions or interruptions.

This was between Capri and Kyle, and I was only there for reinforcements.

After this, there would be no second chances.

No do-overs.

No going back.

It was now or never.

She’d been through enough and had already moved on with her life.

The doors opened in the conference room just after nine thirty in the morning, and in walked the bastard himself. He was talking on his cell phone, not paying any mind to where he was and what was going on around him, until he abruptly stopped.

His shoes crossed the threshold, seeing who was all sitting there waiting for him.

He quickly ended his call, narrowing his eyes at me.

I nodded to the seat on the other end of the rectangular table, ordering him to sit down. He understood my silent demand and closed the door behind him. Cautiously stepping farther into the room, he took a seat. Each of his steps was cool and calculated, heading straight for the chair parallel to mine. His eyes never wavered from my stare as he sat down like he was told.
