“Baby, are you?”
She nods and puts her arms around my neck, burying her face and letting more tears spill over. The realization of what she's saying sits in my gut then detonates in a nuclear detonation of pleasure that blasts through every pore.
“Ohmigod, we're gonna have a baby?”
“We're going to have a baby,” she repeats. “Is that okay?”
“Okay? It's perfect. Totally perfect.”
Now Todd will have to seal the deal.
I carry her across the room and settle her into my lap in my 'big CEO chair' as she calls it. She giggles and writhes on my knee like a little vixen.
“Be careful,” I tell her, my hand going protectively to her flat belly.
“The hormones are kicking in already,” she whispers, all breathy. “I want you inside me even more than normal although that doesn’t seem possible.”
I hardly have time to unlock the drawer and present the diamond I've been keeping there for almost a year.
“I love you and I love our child. Will you marry me and make us a family, Darlin'?”
A thousand kisses cover my face.
