I pinched my lips together to keep from yammering on and on, then turned my attention out the passenger window.Like a rope, the sight of poor Bambi lodged beneath what was left of my Escalade pulled me back to reality and the pain pulsating through my body.My head throbbed like mad, and an unrelenting ache drummed from my shoulder all the way down my arm.

“Is your sister already at Kit’s?”

“No.She’s flying in from Arizona.”

And doesn’t know you’ve been in a wreck, the little voice reminded.

A rush of panic sped through me.“Ohmigod, she’s going to freak out.I need to call her.”

“We’re out of cell range right now.Not sure if you know it or not, but the area we’re in is a dead zone for cell service.”

“I knew that.I just…forgot.I’m still a little shaken because of the deer and all.”

“You have every right to be.Don’t worry.Nick has a satellite phone.I’ll go get it from him so you can call your sister.Okay?”

As Dylan flashed another drool-worthy smile, I simply nodded like a damn bobble-head doll while drinking in his masculine beauty. But when he innocently patted my leg in reassurance, I jolted as a surge of electricity bolted straight to my core.

“Easy, Savannah. We’re not going to hurt you.I promise.Sit back and relax. We’ll take good care of you, kitten.”

As Dylan climbed from the truck and shut the door, the wordkittencircled my brain.

“Is this really happening?”I murmured, gently pinching myself.“Or did I hit my head in the accident, too?”

While a delightful throb churned between my legs, my head, shoulder, and arm ached in pain.I was beyond ready to get to Kit’s and soak for hours in the big, luxurious spa tub inside my room.

When Nick and Dylan returned to the truck, a gust of icy air whipped through the cab, sucking out all the toasty warmth. But as they eased in beside me, their decadent body heat enveloped me like a fever and made my hands tremble when Nick passed me his satellite phone.Focusing on my sister, I dialed up Mellie, but she didn’t answer.I left a condensed message in her voice mail, explaining my escapade with Bambi and reassuring her that I was okay.Next, I placed a call to my insurance company and secured a rental car to be delivered to Kit’s.

While we waited for the tow truck, Nick and Dylan transferred my luggage from the back of my SUV and loaded everything into the back of their truck as sirens wailed in the distance.I could tell there was more than one headed our way.

Turning in my seat, I sent Nick a scowl.“You called for an ambulance, didn’t you?”

“I did.”He nodded firmly.“Youwillbe checked out by a medical professional, even if I have to tie you to the gurney myself. Is that understood?”

My pulse spiked.

My body hummed.

And another rush of slickness spilled into my panties.

“Yes, Sir.”

As the submissive reply tumbled off my lips—totally shocking me—a slow smile tugged his lips.

“Good girl,” Nick purred.“I knew the minute I gazed into your eyes.”

“Knew what?”I asked, feigning innocence.

“Once we know you’re all right, we’ll sit down and have a talk.I have a feeling we have lots to discuss.”

The inflection in his whiskey-smooth voice told me he hadn’t bought my act for a second. To keep from digging myself in deeper, I pressed my lips together and peered in the rearview as a patrol car and ambulance barreled our way.As they drew closer, the screaming sirens made my head want to explode.

The EMTs poked and prodded before announcing I didn’t have any broken bones. When they offered to transport me to the hospital as a safety precaution, I adamantly refused, despite the angry scowls on Nick and Dylan’s faces.Instead of pressuring me to go, they intently listened to the EMT as he listed off a litany of symptoms that would need immediate medical attention.

“We’ll keep a close eye on her,” Nick promised.

“If she needs to go to the hospital, we’ll hog-tie her and drive her there ourselves,” Dylan assured.

I rolled my eyes at their overbearing comments, but deep down, I dreamed about them binding me in rope.At least until I saw my SUV being hoisted on to the back of a tow truck—wobble over the remains of the poor deer—before my vehicle limped down the road.
