When I was finished answering the sheriff’s questions, he handed me a copy of the accident report and left. Before we climbed into the big, red truck, I dug through my suitcase and found the bottle of pain pills I’d tossed in that morning.

“Do you have any water?”I asked Nick, who watched me as if waiting for me to explain the little brown bottle in my hand.

“Sure thing.”Dylan smiled as he flipped open the cooler in the truck’s bed and plucked out a fresh plastic bottle.

“What are those?”Nick asked, nodding toward my fist.

“Pain pills.”

“Why do you carry pain pills?”

“I had dental surgery a couple of weeks ago. While I was packing this morning, I grabbed them in case my tooth flared up again.”

“Were you a Girl Scout?”Dylan grinned, handing me the water.

“No.”I chuckled before downing two of the tablets.“I just like to be prepared.”

“So do we.”Nick smirked, holding the passenger door open for me.

It felt like hours before we were finally on our way to Kit’s.Meshed between the sinful men, their body heat and masculine scents surrounded me and wreaked havoc with my hormones.

“How did you manage to pulverize that big bastard?”Nick asked, capturing me with his decadent black eyes.

“I didn’t mean to kill the poor, innocent thing.”The weight of my guilt was oppressive.

“Innocent, huh?Kind of like you?”he asked with a wolfish smile.

“I’m not innocent,” I protested, but my tone was far from convincing.

“Right,” he derisively drawled.

“It wasn’t the deer’s fault.I should have been paying more attention to the road.”

“What were you doing?”Dylan asked, briefly glancing my way.

“Turning up the heat.I’d only taken my eyes off the road for a second. And when I looked up, he was right in front of me.There was nothing I could do.”

“Do you need us to turn up the heat?”The velvety tone of Nick’s question left no doubt he wasn’t talking about the temperature in the truck.

Desire slashed through me like a hot knife and scalded my cheeks.I lowered my head to hide my embarrassment.“No.Thanks, I’m fine.”

“You might be warm enough, but you’re not fine, kitten. You’ve just been in a wreck.Don’t bullshit us.We don’t tolerate that very well,” Dylan warned.

“How long have you been in the lifestyle?”Nick’s forthright question caught me off-guard.

The air in the truck instantly turned as thick as mud.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I lied.

“Yes, you do,” Nick scoffed before leaning in and lowering his lips close to my ear.“You don’t need to be ashamed or hide who you are, little one.If this is all new to you, we’ll help you through it.”

I scowled and defiantly stuck out my chin.“I’m not hiding anything, and I’m sorry, but I don’t know whatthiseven means.”

“Ordinarily, we spank little subbies for lying, but on the off-chance you really don’t know what you are, we’ll give you a pass.”

Though Dylan’s smile was warm, his tone teemed with such command I couldn’t stop myself from dropping my gaze to his broad hands gripping the steering wheel.Yes, I wanted to know what his big, beefy paws would feel like spanking my ass, but I wasn’t about to confess my kinky fantasies to either of them.Clearly, they had real life experience in the lifestyle. The only knowledge I had was pressed between the pages of the deliciously dirty books I read.

“I know exactly who and what I am… A successful businesswoman who has no intention of handing over her power or subjugating herself to a man,” I replied curtly.
