Nick arched his brows as a brilliant smile exploded over his face.“How do you know it’s a power exchange, pet?”

Great!Open mouth…insert foot.

“This discussion is over,” I announced in the haughty tone I reserved for the assholish lawyers who questioned my findings at work.

“Oh, it’s far from over, little one.But we’ll table it until you feel better.”

Nick’s dazzling smile was so intoxicating, I felt like a drunken sorority pledge.

Deciding my best defense was to simply keep my mouth shut, I did.Thankfully, the pain meds finally kicked in.Closing my eyes, I laid my head back against the seat, but my brain refused to shut down.

Being surrounded by two Dominant men who exuded more confidence and power than I could ever possess was wreaking havoc on my hormones and crowding my mind. While a part of me felt like a kid in a candy store, another part felt like a frightened rabbit cornered by two blindingly beautiful, famished wolves.

Worried they could smell my fear, I realized neither Nick nor Dylan knew a whit about me or my boring life.If I was brave enough, I could shed my timid skin and reinvent myself.Hell, I could be as wild as Mellie for once.My talented, interior designer sister was forever trotting the globe, working with some of the most famous and influential people on the planet.Mellie was forever having flings in exotic continents with filthy rich millionaires.

Sadly, I was nothing like my sister.Mellie had grace, poise, and confidence.

I didn’t.

Dylan and Nick would probably laugh themselves silly if they knew my last dating disaster had been nine long months ago with a boring paralegal from Topeka. While I’d be the first to admit I lacked sexual prowess, nothing had prepared me for Wayne. He pegged the needle on the Nerd-O-Meter.Compared to him, I was a promiscuous sex kitten. But when Wayne’s sinuses began to drain halfway through our date and he slapped a mentholated strip across his nose at the table of the restaurant, I faked a headache and called an Uber.

My love life sucked.

You can change that if you want, taunted the voice in my head.

If I found enough courage, I could live out my BDSM ménage fantasy with Dylan and Nick.It wasn’t like I’d ever see them again.I wouldn’t have to worry about hearing any awkward platitudes like,Thanks, we’ll have to do this again sometime,orI’ll call you in the morning. The only thing stopping me from enjoying—because, seriously, how could I not?—the most epic experience of a lifetime was fear.If I could erase that, I’d take home way better memories from this trip than killing Bambi.

My thoughts grew fuzzy. And as the hum of the truck’s engine filled my ears, the dark haze crowding my brain dragged me under.

After what felt like mere seconds, a deep masculine voice dragged me from the depths.

Lost and floating in a thick fog, it took a hot minute for me to realize I wasn’t in the truck, but flat on my back in a warm, soft bed.But it wasn’t my bed.The scent of cinnamon and spice filling my senses added to my confusion.Briefly lifting my heavy lids, I instantly recognized my surroundings.Since they each looked alike, I knew I was in one of the bedrooms at Kit’s Korner.Relief wended through the drug-induced blanket enveloping my brain.I closed my eyes, anxious to slide back into the inky abyss.

But Nick’s angry, clipped voice quickly yanked me back to the surface.

“No, I willnotallow her to reschedule the damn deposition again, George. This is bullshit.I’m sick of her playing the victim card.I sure as hell didn’t force her to sign the prenup. She did that all on her own, then lied, cheated, and stole from me.She can leave with everything she walked in with…her former Pimp-daddy’s Bentley and all her designer clothes. That’s it.Period.”

Prenup?As in divorce?

“I’m done,” he snarled.

Forcing my lids open, I spied Nick, wearing a grim expression and sitting in a chair at the foot of my bed.Sat-phone pressed to his ear, he lifted his other hand, and pinched the bridge of his nose.He was clearly distraught, but try as I might, I couldn’t keep my eyes open.I wasn’t purposely eavesdropping, but with him there in my room, it was impossible not to.Though his voice was strained with irritation, it didn’t stop tingles of need from skipping through me.

Forcing myself to focus on something else, I filled my lungs with the rustic scent of the barn.It wasn’t really a barn.Kit simply called the modernized outbuilding situated alongside her Victorian mansionthe barn. Her B&B offered rooms, both in the main house and the barn.Mellie and I always opted to stay in the outbuilding each year because we enjoyed the privacy. We could stay up late drinking wine, giggling, and spilling the tea without keeping other guests awake.

“Thanks, George.I appreciate you handling this for me.”Nick’s tone softened.“How are things going at Genesis? Is Leagh still keeping you on your toes?”

I could hear George’s baritone voice through the sat phone, but not enough to make out what he said.

After a short pause, Nick let out a deep laugh.I forced my eyes open, just to see his smile.

“She loaded your toy bag with clothespins and bunny floggers?I can’t wait to hear how you plan to punish her for that when we get back…ifwe get back. We’re in the crosshairs of a fucking blizzard that’s heading our way.”Nick paused again.“All right, man. Thanks for everything.Later.”

“Who are George and Leagh?”As my words tumbled over my rubbery tongue, they came out slurred.

“They’re friends of ours.”He smiled.“Good morning…err rather, good afternoon.”

“What time is it?”
