“Nathan,” she said, and he focused on her. She pinned the moment he realized she was studying his mouth; his relaxed smile dropped slightly. “I’m going to do something.”

She wasn’t sure when she decided it, but the decision was already there and she was merely acting on it.

“What?”

And then she kissed him. Just like she’d been planning, she pressed her lips against his and scrunched her eyes shut and held there for a few seconds.

Then her eyes snapped open and she stepped backwards into the window sill.

She became a statue, stiff as stone as Nathan watched her with wide eyes.

She stared at him, he stared at her. She didn’t move, he didn’t move.

This is it, she thought. He’s really going to kick me out this time.

He didn’t though.

He did the opposite of anything she would have imagined.

He leaned forward so quickly she couldn’t register it.

The small area between them closed into nothing as he caught her lips with his.

Tully gasped into him.

Softly, the imprint of a hand settled on her waist and she was pulled against his chest.

Her eyes weren’t closed this time, they were wide open and shocked as her buzzed brain tried to catch up with her body.

This was a very bad idea.

Nathan was deepening the kiss, his lips opening against hers.

Maybe this was a very bad idea because she was letting him. Because she didn’t mind him touching her right then. Because when his tongue brushed against her bottom lip, her eyes closed and her entire body leaned into his.

And once it did, Nathan’s other hand grabbed the side of her waist.

She squeaked against his mouth, and she swore he smiled.

If this was about revenge, she sure as hell wasn’t thinking about that anymore.

All she was thinking about was meeting the pace of Nathan’s mouth, and grabbing onto his shoulders for balance and leaning into the feeling that wrapped around her.

The grip of his fingers through her shirt sucked any rational thought left in her mind out through a straw and left only an unfamiliar residue in her chest. One that became fuller and fuller the longer she grabbed at him and he at her.

Her mind whirled like a merry-go-round, turning dizzily as Nathan shifted them away from the window and towards the bed. And, God, she let him.

It was like a dance, and he led her so easily and she followed so well.

Graceful and sloppy at the same time, she let him walk her over—their lips staying connected the entire way—she let him lay her down on the bed.

Tully hated how much she loved it.

She hated that she didn’t understand it. Since when had she welcomed touch so easily?

Her chest heaved against Nathan’s as he leaned, his body towered with one elbow keeping him steady against the mattress and her.

The other hand which had been on her waist the entire time started to slide down down down to her hip. While her mind was focused on his lips, her body was acutely aware of the movement of his fingers as they met the hem of his shirt that she was wearing, and fiddled with the fabric.
