“I guess that will depend on the comments you make tonight.” She grins, knowing she’s won this round.

“Seriously? You big burly men took up the whole freaking booth!” Macy folds her arms over her chest and glares at us all. She must’ve gone to the bathroom after she apologized to me.

“I’m sure Cord will let you sit on his lap if you ask nicely.” Leo lifts his beer to his lips to hide the smile spreading over his face.

Cord punches him in the arm and flips him off. No matter what Cord says or does, I know he’s not over Macy yet. He’s still madly in love with her and the fire in that woman’s veins. He won't find anyone else who can argue with him likeshe can.

“Nah, I don’t need his tiny tic tac poking my ass all night.” She waves off Leo’s comment. “What’s your name again?” She turns her attention to Schmidt.

“Uh… Schmidt?” He clears his throat and tries again, this time his voice comes out strong, deep, and confident. “Schmidt.”

“Is that your first name or last name?” She tilts her head to the side and examines him.

“Last. I don’t go by my first name.”

“Hmm, that makes me interested… How can I find out your first name?” Macy sways her hips as she walks to his side and plops down on his lap. She wraps her arm around his neck and toys with his hair that’s curling up at the ends under his ball cap.

“I mean any google search will bring up anything you want to know about any of us,” Smithy speaks up.

“What about the size of your-”

“Macy,” Cord growls.

“What? If they don’t have that information on you, I would happily supply it for them.” She bats her eyes innocently at him.

“Mace, don’t torture him,” Charlie says quietly. I know her and Cord were as close as siblings once upon a time and I'm glad she’s standing up for him. That’s definitely not the easy choice right now.

Macy stares at Cord for a few seconds before she turns her attention back to Schmidt. She speaks to him quietly and I swear this is the first time I’ve ever been out with Schmidt thathe isn't looking for the nearest exit. He’s completely engrossed with her and isn't paying attention to the world around him.

Cord however is concentrating on Macy’s fingers toying with Schmidt’s hair and how her other hand is on his chest. She’s smiling at him and clearly flirting. I can tell how much this is hurting him and I wish there was something I could do to remove him from this situation. I can't make Macy stop flirting with other guys, but I can try to make sure Cord doesn’t witness it.

“I'm going to kill her,” Charlie mutters under her breath.

“Macy?”

“Yes. She’s doing this just to upset Cord and it’s not fair. I’d never do that to you.”

“Nah, you just like to remind me how you’re single,” I tease her, but when her face falls, I realize I went a little too far. “Charlie…”

“No, you aren’t wrong. I threw that in your face as often as I could.” She nods her head slowly. “You didn’t deserve that.”

“I won't say it didn’t hurt, but I'm not mad about it.” I wrap my arm around her shoulder, pushing Smithy’s arm off in the process.

Charlie cuddles into my side just like she used to before we started dating. I know I'm nowhere close to winning her back, but any step in the right direction is a win at this point.

“Holy shit. I think Everson beat you, Smithy.” Wheeler smirks and shakes his head at us.

“Hey, Wheeler?” Charlie sayssweetly.

“Yeah?” He perks up with the attention of a pretty girl being on him.

“Shut the fuck up and mind your own business. Ok? Thanks.” She winks at him and blows him a kiss.

Wheeler is left blinking at us, like he doesn’t know what just happened. He’s never been put in his place by Charlie Robinson, that’s for sure.

“Wow, ok… Cici, wanna help me nurse the wounds Charlie just gave me?”

“Stay away from my sister, Wheeler,” Cord groans. “Do you seriously think going after her is a smart idea? Her dad is your boss.”
