“Do you now?” I drawled and winked. “I won’t disappoint.”

“And I would like to come with you.” She beamed a smile, brighter than the moon, then her cheeks turned color. “Actually, we would like to come with you.”

Midnight and Sunshine peeked between strands of her hair.

No words were needed. I cupped her face and kissed her with desperation and showed her how much I wanted her. She slowly opened her eyes and offered another bright smile. Her silver hair and wings illuminated like the moon and the stars.

No sight was ever more beautiful than the woman I held. And I couldn’t be happier.

I placed an arm behind her back, hooked the other one under her legs, and spiraled us upward to the sky as I kissed her again, to the destination unknown.

Chapter Fifty-Four

Bedroom

Joleen

Victus and I released Clara and Elizabeth, and the angel prisoners inside the castle that had once belonged to Asmodeus, and then the ones in Victus’s lair. All the warriors, including Sarah, James, and Tia, bailed after I told them the OA had been disbanded and no words had been sent for us to return. I didn’t blame them for leaving.

Victus and I had a list of things to do. A very long, long list. We would take care of one thing at a time together.

I walked out of the library and strolled down a hallway, sunlight beaming down from the ceiling with no roof. It felt strange to have a home. With my previous team, we moved about from abandoned barns and caves. Stranger still, I couldn’t believe I was the Queen of Drevon to rule over the humans and supernatural beings.

I turned the corner into a darker area when air thickened and spiraled around me. No need to worry. Only one being made my heart thump faster just by wind alone, but fear slammed into my chest when fingers coiled around my neck and pinned me against the wall. Until his smooth, velvety voice rippled through my veins, making me quake at the knees.

“I love everything about you, my queen.”

I pushed off with the strength of my feathers, taking him with me. His back thumped the opposite side and I trapped him with my body and wings.

“And I love everything about you,” I purred.

Victus’s feet tangled with mine to launch us into a wild spin, and then he pushed me against the stone wall but not hard.

“My love for you is greater.” He ran a tongue down my neck, then nipped my skin with his teeth as he ground against me. “And I love your scent of spring flowers. It drives me wild.”

Saving Grace! I wanted him.

I moaned, allowing Victus to think he had the upper hand, but then I launched and pinned him again.

“My turn.” I rubbed a hand over the hard bump in his pants.

He groaned, then we were thrown into a battle of push and shove, taking turns on who would be on top of our chaotic tumbling until we eventually ended by our bedroom, panting.

“Was this your destination?” Victus’s irises switched from crimson to dark brown, back and forth as he twisted the knob with his arm behind his back. “Because if it wasn’t, then it is now.”

“What are you waiting for, my king? Take me.”

Victus’s mouth collided with mine, kissing me with desperation and fervor. He kicked the door closed, and with vampire speed, he had both of us stripped bare and on our bed. The silk bedsheets were cool to the touch and arousing on my naked body.

We had made love the night we had won the war, then every night after that, but with Victus, every time was like the first. He bathed my body with his tongue, over the hills of my breasts, then lower, until he landed between my legs.

Oh, Saving Grace! I moaned as his fingers drove in and out of me, making me wet and wild for him.

“Victus … Victus …” My breaths came fast as I repeated his name over and over, my body quivering and aching with need.

“My Little Dove, I want you soaring. But I don’t think I can wait any—”

I tugged his hair and forced his body on top of mine. “What are you waiting for? I’m no human. I need you now.”
