“What my queen demands, my queen gets.”

Victus pushed into me, and at first he pumped slow, taking his time as his lips and tongue devoured my mouth. He pulled back and set his loving eyes on mine, smiling. Then the veins under his eyes throbbed and his irises turned crimson.

He growled and pumped harder and faster … faster … faster with vampire speed. I cried his name, my body exhausted from the ecstasy. I thought I was going to explode or die from pure pleasure.

When he slowed, sweat beaded his forehead, breathless. “I can’t get enough of you, Little Dove.”

“Then take more of me.” Demanding, just like the Seraphim I am.

“I’m yours. All of me. My heart. My soul. No one can take away my love for you. No one. Not even a forgotten memory.”

His fingers coiled around my arms, his sharp teeth exposed, his dark wings flashed open as quick as mine. With vampire speed, he took me against the wall, then against the dresser, over the sofa, then even on the ceiling. Our wings caressed together as we made love.

At last, we ended up on the bed, arms and legs tangled and our wings enveloping us like a cocoon. I never wanted him to let go of me.

Chapter Fifty-Five

Twin Flames

Joleen

Victus and I walked side by side, Nadira in the middle holding our hands. Clanking of metal echoed in the courtyard as we passed the sentinels practicing sword fighting.

Tank, Otis, Dawn, Markane, and Abacus waved at us as they weaved around the sentinels, giving them instructions or directions.

Despite the number of men and women that joined our legion, we were short-handed. And it would take years to replenish. No immediate danger loomed, but a kingdom had to remain guarded and strong. To keep the peace, Victus did not rule over the three royal vampires.

When we entered the garden, the laughter and chatter filled my ears. The older ones were inside the library doing their homework with their scholars, and a few helpers watched over the younger ones during their playtime after supper.

Their laughter filled my heart with bliss as they dashed around trees, flowerbeds, and the water fountain.

Victus had the statue of Asmodeus taken down in the middle of the garden and replaced it with the drakon, all pure gold and true to its enormous size. A reminder of what we’d been through, and a tribute to his mother and one of the most powerful hierarchy angels.

“Mama, can I play with my friends?” Nadira’s violet eyes caught the tail end of the shimmering sun by the fountain.

Some of the children dashed toward us and dipped their heads in reverence, then sprinted back to whatever they were doing. But one young fellow named Kyle remained, looking at my daughter with adoration.

Abagail had asked if Kyle could attend classes at the castle since most of the schools were still being renovated. Of course we agreed. We’d do anything for Abagail and Michael. Speaking of Michael and Snow, I couldn’t be happier for them, though I would miss them.

Snow had come to see me and had asked for permission to leave. She had every right to do as she pleased, but I granted her request to give her peace of mind.

Kyle dipped his body low with one arm around his waist and the other behind his back like a perfect gentleman. “Princess Nadira, would you like to play with me and my friends?”

Her gaze darted between her father and me. Victus arched an eyebrow, but I gave her a little push of encouragement.

“Go ahead, sweetheart. A princess must know her people.”

Kyle offered his arm and Nadira took it as he escorted her along the brick pathway.

Victus shook his head. “They start young these days.”

I snickered, but before I could get in a word, Victus flashed his mighty dark wings and soared like an arrow with me in his arms to the clouds. The higher we rose over the fading horizon, the moon and the stars became more visible.

“Finally, I have you alone.” Victus’s wings wrapped around me as we floated in midair.

“You are the King of Drevon, you know,” I said playfully. “You’ve got duties.”

I was by his side every moment of every day. He didn’t make any decisions about his people and his kingdom without my input. I was his equal, his partner, his right arm.
