She chuckled, the sound warming me. I was a sucker for this woman. Just one look at her, and all my doubts disappeared. I would go to war for her if it meant she would look at me like that for the rest of her life.

"What I'm trying to say is I've made peace with my past,” she explained, “and I'm ready to move forward. With you."

I couldn't resist the smirk even if I tried. Never had words sounded so sweet. "With me, huh? I like the sound of that."

She nodded. "I love you."

I almost fell to my knees and wept. Instead, I leaned in to kiss her. "Say it again."

"I love you, Aaron."

Another kiss. "Don't stop. I want to hear you say it forever."

"I love you so much."

I poured the frustration of the past few months into the kiss. She melted against me, and I marveled at how perfectly we fit together.

She broke the kiss first. "Does that mean you forgive me?" Her eyes were sincere and hopeful, and I smiled at her beauty.

"Baby, I was never angry at you,” I promised. “I was just hurt."

She sighed dreamily, resting her head against my chest, and I wrapped my arms around her waist. "I'm sorry I hurt you."

"I'm sorry I called you a coward."

"It's okay. It was true."

Then I remembered something. "Wait, you mentioned your father. Does that mean you’ve settled your differences?"

"Yeah. He came to see me that night three months ago, and we talked. I've been meaning to thank you for your help."

I smiled. "All I did was push a little. Nothing serious."

She laughed deeply, leaving me wondering if I'd just made a joke.

I waited it out until she settled. "What's funny?"

"Nothing. Just something I thought you'd say."

I found myself chuckling, too. "Say you love me again."

She pulled off from my chest to look into my eyes. So many emotions floated around in her gaze, but there was no fear this time. Just a certain spark that gradually heated up. "I love you."

"I love you too, baby. Always."

The tension that burned between us was like no other. We had so much to talk about and learn, but right now, all that mattered was reminding ourselves what becoming one felt like again.

I reached for her, and she trembled against me, ever willing to give as much as she took. Somehow, by a stroke of luck, and let's not forget hope, Felicity Wiley was in my arms again. This time, as I proceeded to show her just how much I loved her and I vowed never to let her go again.

The End.
