I nod.

There’s a beat of silence before Caleb speaks again. “You make me so happy.”

“That was my masterplan all along. You’re so lucky I set out to seduce you with my sexy, coy glances.”

He chuckles. “Mmm. Those glances were definitely sexy. Keep ’em coming.”

“I’ll stare at you every day,” I promise solemnly. “For the rest of our lives, you’ll find me gawking at you over breakfast and peering at you when you’re watching the TV. He starts to laugh. “Very.”

“Your mom would kill us if we got married in a subway car.”

I laugh, giddy with happiness. “Bummer.”

“Will that be a dealbreaker?” he asks with a grin.

I make a thoughtful face. “Almost, but you can tip the scales in your favor with sex when we get home.”

“Romance isn’t dead after all.”

I’m still laughing as I wrap my arms around his neck and pull him in for a kiss.

“I love you,” I whisper just as our lips are about to touch. “And I will marry the fuck out of you.”

“Ditto,” he says just before he covers my mouth with his.
