Then I meet Casey’s eyes filled with tears that overflow from her blue eyes and stream down her cheeks. This was as important to her as it was to me.

Finally, I look over at Liam. He wraps his arms around the hollow body guitar, and he rests his chin on top. “Proud of you,” he mouths.

Maddox comes to the stage, takes the guitar from him, and hands him his crutch. He holds a hand out for me, and I readily accept it. I get pulled against his chest, then he drops his mouth to mine for everyone to see. I blush furiously at the whoops and hollers of everyone, but they’re soon forgotten as I get lost in his kiss. My feet may be on the ground, but I’m soaring above the clouds. “I love you, Lancelot,” I whisper against his mouth, choked with emotions.

When he releases me, I start to walk off the stage, but he stops me. He brushes his knuckles across my face, then cups the back of my neck. “Will you love me forever?”

There’s no hesitation when I say, “Yes.”

“Marry me.”

I lean back and blink. “Did you just ask me to marry you the same night your ex-wife was taken off in handcuffs?”

He smirks. “Poetic, right? Consider it an engagement present. Besides, I needed to make sure I asked first.” I laugh. He’s given me shit since my speech to his mom. “I’ll get on one knee if you need me to, but fair warning, I may never come back up.”

“No, no,” I laugh again.

“Maybe this will convince you.” He reaches into his pocket and removes a ring. A single, princess-cut diamond set on a platinum band.

My eyes double in size as they fill with tears I can’t contain. My hand covers my mouth as I stare. “When did you get that?”

“The first day in my office.”

“Oh, my God.”

“Bloody hell. Just say yes, love. Put the bastard out of his misery,” Ryder calls out, and I realize someone moved the microphone in front of us.”

“What do you say, baby? Be my forever?”

The tears fall as I nod. “Yes. Over and over, yes.”

The end
