No one was hurt. We were all doing what felt good. It just happened to be both of them doing me at the same time.

She leans on her elbows, dark hair framing her face as she sizes me up. “Okay, so you had this kind of free love thing at the cabin. And then you came back to the city, and all that went away?”

I shake my head. “I tried to make it go away. But they…they wouldn’t let me.”

Abigail scrunches her nose. “I’m going to have to talk to them.”

I grab her shoulder. “No! Don’t! They…I was trying to make it go away because I thought that’s what Ishoulddo. In truth, all my feelings were still under the surface.”Arestill under the surface. “Because they’re both such good guys. They’re so special. You know, Nate makes me laugh, and Mason listens, really listens.”

I bite my tongue before I reveal their pet names for me. Princess. Queen. “They worship me.”

Sonia tilts her head to the side. “Then why did you leave?”

“Because…” I lift my head high. “It was too much. I mean, it’s disgusting, right? To not be able to choose which guy to love.”

Bridget laughs. “Not disgusting.”

Abigail nods in agreement. “Yeah, I’m honestly just jealous.”

I laugh, dry and humorless. “Trust me, you don’t want this. I feel like I’m being torn apart.”

Abigail waggles her eyebrows. “Mm. Sexy.”

Bridget hisses at Abigail to stop.

Meanwhile, Sonia remains poised, clearly the most mature.

I mean, she’s engaged, she must know what she’s doing. “So, you love them, and they love you?”

I don’t say anything.

“I’m going to assume they do. The way Nate reacted when he found out you were gone.”

My head droops forward. “I never wanted to hurt him. I just don’t deserve both of them. And I can’t choose.”

Sonia goes on. “They’ve put an ultimatum on you.”

Everything inside me tightens. “No, not exactly.”

No one says anything. They’re waiting for me to speak.

“They…both want to love me. Continue what we’ve been doing.”

Bridget sniffles. “That’s so sweet.”

I start to respond, to refute, just as I’ve done this whole time.

Except she’s right. It’s sweet.

More than. It’s beautiful.

I nod. “It is sweet.”

My eyes connect with Sonia’s. She’s smiling like a cat, sly and all-knowing. “So, you love both of them, and they both love you, and you’re running away because…?”

I twiddle my fingers on the handle of my teacup. “Isn’t that weird?”

Sonia raises an eyebrow. “The only thing weird about it is that two stand up guys have been able to put their masculine pride aside and admit to themselves and to each otherthat they’d rather both have you than hurt each other. That’s pretty amazing, I think.”
