“So, you and Tamilya?”Cat said. She wasn’t good at small talk. He hated to say it, but she was like one of the guys.

“Go ahead,” he said, as he walked over to the other side of the room.

“Well, how long did you date?”

He glanced over his shoulder at her. Cat Kalakau looked diminutive and sweet. Athletic, with a girl next door quality about her, she could fool any suspect with those dimples of hers. In the end, though, it would be their downfall. She was one woman he thought could probably kick his ass. She was also an expert sniper and could outshoot everyone else on the team.

“Six weeks.”

“Not long.”

He shook his head. “We both had high stress jobs, and she was just beginning to hunt for the guy who would eventually blow up the Virginia Star Mall.”

“Ah, makes sense.”

“So, have you set a date yet?”

Drew and Cat had eloped to Vegas, but their families were insisting on a ceremony.

“Nope. There doesn’t seem to be anything in here.”

He nodded. He heard footsteps and drew his gun, keeping it low and to the ground.”

“Marcus?” Tamilya called out.

“Yeah.” He stepped into the doorway.

“We found a bunch of material over there in the Pikake Room.”

“Where is it?”

“The FBI is handling it. Looked like some kind of gun powder. Some wires.”

“You think someone put them together here?” he asked.

“It would take a big set of bollocks to do that,” Graeme said.

“Or, it could be someone really stupid,” Tamilya said. “Or even someone who got off on the added danger of making the bombs here. And, then there is the possibility that the person has no other place to make the bombs.”

“So they could have taken advantage of the empty rooms,” Marcus said.

“And that means whoever the person is, he knows what’s going on here. They could possibly have someone on the inside,” Cat said.

“Yeah.” Tamilya thought it over and felt the need to push her way into the investigation. Her fingers practically tingled as she gripped her gun harder. She hadn’t really missed much at the FBI. The office politics and the long hours sucked. But this she had been good at. She knew just how to lead an investigation, and she definitely understood the mind of a terrorist. At least one that liked to blow shit up.

“Tamilya?”

She looked up at Marcus. “I think we’re done here.”

He nodded.

He unhooked his walkie-talkie from his belt. “TFH here. We’re done with the search. Anything else you want us to do?”

“Come on back out here. I’m going to check in with my section chiefs.”

“Ten-four.”
