The FBI had arrived.

An hour later,Marcus was beyond irritated. Hell, he was fucking furious. They were still stuck at TFH while going over things with the FBI and TFH. He didn’t like that.

Tamilya had been put in a room for questioning.

“I still call bullshit,” he grumbled.

“I agree, but at least this way, they can never say that she didn’t alert them when it happened,” Autumn said. Then she leaned closer and lowered her voice. “You can never trust the government.”

He glanced at her. “Uh, you work for the government. Hell, you were a DEA agent.”

“Doesn’t mean I trusted them.”

He scrubbed his hands over this face as he fought back a laugh.

“You are one of a kind, Bradford.”

“Yeah, I know. And now you don’t look like you want to go beat up that Agent Howard.”

He dropped his hands. “What?”

“You looked like you wanted to go tear off Agent Howard’s arms and then beat him with them. I was just trying to save you. Plus, Tamilya would be pissed that you didn’t think she could handle all of this.”

He snorted. “That woman could take on the Chinese Army without a problem.”

“True. And it looks like they’re wrapping things up. Are you taking her home?”

“Why would I change that?” Del had sent Cat over to keep an eye on her parents because they were now also a target.

“She’s coming home with me. Del made noises about a safe house.”

She shook her head. “Useless. If they know us, they know our safe houses. I would put my stock in someone at the FBI. They would be the ones who would know what was going on.”

“There’s one thing we have to consider,” he said, watching the exchange between Tamilya and TJ. Relaxed. She was completely unfazed by the questioning that had gone on for over an hour.

“What’s that?” Autumn asked.

“There’s a chance they paid for a hack.”

“Hmm, but still, why go after the Virginia Star bombing? Why that one?”

“There were people who didn’t get caught. Maybe they wanted to find out just what the FBI thought. They gather information and realize Tamilya was here in Hawaii. She’s perfect.”

“Why not that bitch March?” she asked.

He looked at Autumn with one eyebrow raised. “Nasty words for someone you never met.”

“The woman let Tamilya down and, let’s be honest, both of us are not good enough to be friends with Tamilya. UC for the DEA makes me kind of…well, dirty. Not in a way that I broke any laws, but you have to skirt the edge. And, well, you fucked up bad with her last time.”

He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. That much was true. Before he could respond, the door opened up. Agent Smith came out, followed by TJ. Tamilya stood alone in the room.

“Oh, hey,” TJ said with a smile. “Smith, this is Marcus Floyd, Tamilya’s…I guess you two are partners on this case?”

Marcus nodded. Smith eyed him. He was typical of what Marcus was accustomed to in an FBI agent. Dressed in a suit, he was out of place. Granted, TJ did the same, but he rarely wore jackets these days and often had the most outrageous ties—probably from his wife. Smith was looking to get ahead, and he wouldn’t think twice about tossing Tamilya over the side to climb up the ladder.

“You know you’re obligated to tell us anything you might know.”
