I lean into him, wrapping my arm around his waist.

“I don’t know what to do with all this property, but I want to be in Landmark Mountain,” I say it to him first and he swallows hard, his eyes full of emotion.

“Yeah?” he asks.

“I really, really do. I love my home and I was crushed when I thought it was taken from us, but what I’ve found in Landmark Mountain is everything I want. You, your family—”

The guys carry on around us, rowdy and playful.

“I know that’s right!” Theo yells.

“Landmarks for the win,” Wyatt says.

I bury my head in Callum’s shoulder and laugh. My cheeks are flaming when I lean back to look at everyone again.

“Kess is leaving soon for school, my parents are traveling the country…and even if obnoxious, you guys are the family I want to be surrounded by.”

They looked moved at first and then realize the rest of what I said and their expressions morph one by one. It’s hilarious.

“Hey now,” Sutton says.

“You think this is obnoxious, wait till you see us at Christmas,” Wyatt says, laughing.

“I’m glad you’re staying in Landmark Mountain,” Theo says. “You’re nice to have around and you make this guy really happy.” He leans over and squeezes Callum’s shoulder. “Looks like you’ll need a bigger barn. I owe you one after all you did on ours.”

I shake my head. “Oh, I didn’t expect—” I turn to face Callum.

He tilts his head and lifts his shoulder. “Why not?”

“You’d really put up with twenty-fiveemus?”

“You’re like a package deal with the emus,” he says, grinning.

“Callum.” My voice cracks and I’m crying again.

“We’ve got room for them while we’re getting something new built at your place,” Theo says. “Between the barn at my place and Sof’s old place—Hilary’s place,” he corrects himself. “I’m warning you now though, Hilary and Abby will probably want to keep a few if they get attached…and they will.” He laughs.

“I can’t believe this. Really?” I look at Callum again and he brushes my hair back.

“The more the merrier,” he says.

“He only says that about animals,” Wyatt teases.

Callum points at him. “Check.”

Everyone laughs.

“Ahh, this is the best. I am—I just can’t believe this. This is—I’m overwhelmed.” I shake my head and sniffle, laughing at what a mess I am. “I’ll start looking into options for getting them there.”

“Oh, no one told you?” Theo smirks. “I borrowed a 53’ foot semitrailer from a farmer we know and parked it at the truck stop near here. The guys picked me up there when Callum said there hadn’t been any suspicious activity during the night. Didn’t know what we were dealing with when I left and wanted to be prepared in case we were sneaking emus out in the wee hours.” He laughs and I stare at him in shock before my shoulders shake with laughter too.

“This is madness,” I say. “Had I known this kind of goodness was in Landmark Mountain, I would’ve made sure to visit Uncle Pierre sooner.”

“Have you told him you’re married yet?” Wyatt asks.

“No. Only the people at this table know,” I say. “What do you think?” I turn to Callum. “Should we still keep it quiet?”

“My vote is to tell the whole world, but I’ll be good with whatever you decide,” he says.
