Laughing as we approached the main road, it was nice to know we could pick up where we left off so easily. I found that with all of the girls, and having them meant everything to me.

“We haven’t had a night out in a while,” Sienna said, navigating down the open road. “Life has been so busy.”

It was already dusk, and it would be dark sooner rather than later.

“I think it’ll be good for us even if it’s only for a few hours,” I added, smiling at the thought.

“Especially with everything that’s been going on,” Sienna murmured, aware of how loaded that situation was between Rowan’s group and everyone in Rose Valley.

While the Roadbar was still being fixed, it left the club to be one of the only places everyone could go to drink. It was fairly packed, but that was to be expected since it was a Friday night.

As Sienna and I walked in, it didn’t take long for us to find the girls at the bar, circling around and waiting for their drinks.

The music surrounded us at once, and I already knew it would be a lively night.

The moment Hayley spotted us, she lit up and threw her arms around me. “I’m so glad you made it!”

“It was about time we arranged something,” I said in return, smiling at how wonderfully buzzed she already was.

“Here, let's order you two something!” she shouted over the music, but I knew it wasn’t a problem for Sienna to hear her.

Alora, River, and Yara were dancing together, far from us, with their drinks in their hands, completely immersed in the music. Not far from us, I found Sara and her boyfriend dancing while he had her hips from behind and swayed. They looked completely smitten with one another.

The energy was good and bright, and I didn’t want the night to end.

Once I sipped on my drink of glowing purple juice, vodka, and swirling glitter, I felt myself slipping into a content state, more than ready to dance as much as I wanted.

Putting my empty glass down at the bar, a gentle hand on my wrist pulled me further into the crowd of dancing people, and I was met with Alora’s beaming smile.

“Join us!” She said, eyes half squinting from how dazed she was. Not willing to say no, I blended in with the girls and found my rhythm.

We danced under the colored lights, forgetting about everything I didn’t want to think about. I didn’t worry myself about the odd premonitions, Rowan, or how tense everyone had been since the gang rolled into town asking for a truce.

None of it seemed to matter while I danced with my friends, finding an easy comfort with them.

I had no way of telling how much time had passed, not with the drinks in my system and my carefree attitude. Instead, I swayed with the music, passing between the girls and feeling so connected to them all that it almost hurt.

After everything we had been through, we could count on one another for support, and it meant so much to me.

It nearly made me emotional, but I urged myself to keep it together.

“Come help me with the drinks!” Alora said over the music, gesturing for me to follow.

Blissfully, I walked with her to the bar, where we put in another round for the group of us. I moved my hips while we waited, not wanting that fun to fade for even a minute.

“What do you think about the gang being back and wanting a truce?” Alora asked, blissfully unaware of my past with Rowan. It was an innocent, topical question, but it reminded me of everything I had hoped to forget.

“I didn’t want to hear anything about it initially, but now I’m curious about why they can’t shift,” I replied, letting the alcohol in my system take away the softness in my voice. “And if it has anything to do with that vision I had.”

“That sounds likely,” Alora said over the music, resting against the bar. “I just hope nothing gets out of control again.”

Nodding absently, I glanced to my right and watched as others walked inside. But my heart dropped the moment I spotted Rowan glancing around the club as if he didn’t know why he was there in the first place.

That light-hearted mood I was in dropped at once, already anticipating the inevitable internal struggle I would have to deal with.

While I was annoyed that my evening with the girls no longer felt quite so whimsical and carefree, my curiosity spiked the moment he walked in. I kept my eyes on him as he looked around, unable to deny how attractive he looked in his brown leather jacket and perfectly cropped hair.

There was something about those eyes that lured me in, framed with the most amazing eyelashes I had ever seen. And that jawline was incredible. Part of me wished I could see just how much his body had changed through the years, remembering how shredded his body had been the first day I saw him.
