As the adrenaline from it all seemed to ebb away, that exhaustion crept back in, and his warmth pulled on my eyelids.

Before long, he pressed a kiss against my forehead and stood. He went to the ensuite bathroom and disappeared behind the wall. There was a quiet squeak of the taps, then he was busy for another moment.

“What are you doing?” I asked, just as he returned from the bathroom.

Griffin smiled fondly at me, then approached the bed and slipped his arms beneath me bridal style. “I’m running you a bath.”

Cooing at the sound of it, I let him scoop me up and bring me to the ensuite. “I won’t complain about that.”

“Good,” he murmured, pressing his forehead against mine lovingly. “Because I’m going to take care of you. No matter what that means, I’ll do whatever it takes to keep you happy.”

My heart swelled at his words, near tears by the time we reached the bathroom. To my relief, the bath was already half-full by the time he helped me inside it, and embellished with bubbles and colors, which I assumed came from a bath bomb. That hot water surrounded me, and I slowly eased into it.

Immediate relief flooded my system as I leaned against the back of the tub and sighed.

“This is amazing. Thank you.”

“Anytime,” Griffin hummed, finding a place next to the tub as he reached for a cloth and dunked it carefully in the water. He brought it up to scrub gently at my shoulders. “I love you, and nothing will ever change that. You deserve the world.”

While it was a tall order, I appreciated the sentiment nonetheless. Smiling up at him, I couldn’t help but take in all of Griffin’s beauty.

He was so beautiful, thoughtful, and committed, and I knew I had the most perfect man in my corner.

“I love you more.”
