The gentle hum of my car’s engine grows louder as the valet drives my black Bentley into the hotel entrance. Its shiny exterior gleaming in the sunlight.

The sleek car glides smoothly to a stop in front of us before the sound of doors opening and closing breaks the silence, followed by the jingle of keys before the valet hands them to me.

“Thank you.” I toss the keys in my pocket and hand him a tip. The valet nods his head in appreciation.

“I have a feeling that once she thinks about how much money she’s been offered, she won’t be able to resist,” he says when we no longer hear the click-clack of the valet’s shoes on the concrete.

“But we need to show her we can offer her so much more than money if we want to keep her.”

Gabe nods in agreement. A smile cutting across his face. “We’ll make her see that being with us is the best decision she could ever make. We’ll give her love, protection, and a life she never even dreamed of.”

“I thought you weren’t sure about her.”

“I’m not.” He sighs, walking to the car and getting into the passenger seat. He waits until I’m buckled up and I’ve started the engine. “She’ll be a nightmare of an omega. She is already so disobedient.”

I grin. “That’s what you’ll love about her in the end.”

He rolls his eyes to the ceiling of my car. “And I understand why she’s like that.”

“You do.” I take a deep breath and nod, my mind racing with ideas. “We’ll start by giving her a taste of what her life could be like to be with us. Show her the love and security we can provide for her and our future offspring.”

“And Jake?”

I groan. I like our small pack. It takes a lot for me to trust, and I trust Gabe with my life. Jake is the unknown.

“He rescued her,” Gabe says. “And we know he’s prepared to share her. He promised not to touch her until we’ve spoken to her.”

“Does he want the pack more than her?” I mutter. I don’t know how I feel about that. “I want every alpha in her pack treating her like a queen.”

“You needn’t worry about that. Jake wants her. He left his safe life and saved her with no thought about how it affected him. From what you told me about her real father. He would’ve chosen him as her alpha.”

Probably.

Gabe smirks. “Do you think her father would’ve approved of you?”

I swallow. “Her father was a very good man.”

“I never asked that.”

“Probably not.”

Chapter 8

Ella

Anger is still burning in my veins when I slam the door to my car and stomp into my apartment.

My face stings from the crying and screaming I did the whole car journey home. Every time I recalled Professor Baldwin’s terms.

And the way he looked behind me, like he was worried. Now, I could kick myself for not looking back to see who or what he was looking at.

Inside the empty apartment, I pace back and forth, my mind racing with thoughts of the money on offer but also at being shared with two men.

I hate myself.

I hate there’s a part of me that wants to accept.

It’s five freaking million dollars.
