“Yep,” I say with a smile.

“Ivy and Griffin, huh? Who’d have thought it?” Finlay chuckles.

This gets Kevin’s attention, but only marginally. His jaw clenches as he sips his beer.

“I know,” I say, glancing at Kevin. “All the good ones will be gone soon.”

Finlay snorts and smacks his chest.

“I’mstill single, babe. Why don’t you let me take you out?”

Oh boy.

I couldn’t have planned this any better.

I resist checking Kevin’s reaction as I lean forward, watching as Finlay’s eyes move to my cleavage. He licks his lips and moves closer.

“Me and you?” I look at him through half-lidded lashes and pout. “You couldn’t handle me, Bentley.”

I canfeelKevin’s stare from where I am, but I refuse to look at him.

Nope.

My heart thuds in my chest, but it’s got nothing to do with the guy in front of me.

“I bet I can,” Finlay says with confidence I can’t help but admire.

“I’m not being your second choice, sorry,” I say airily, moving back. “We all know how bad you had it for my best friend.”

Finlay grunts and glances at Kevin, which means he’s braver than me.

He looks like he’s going to say something, but then Kevin meets his eyes and he thinks better of it.

“But she’s off limits now,” Logan says, nudging Finlay with a grin. “Go on, Shelby. Go out with him.”

Finlay gives me a winning smile.

“Although, I must warn you, if you do, I’ll sit at this bar every damn shift you have to make sure no one touches you.” Finlay holds my gaze and I wonder for a second why I shouldn’t go out with him.

Kevin won’t ever go there with me.

Even now he’s staring dead ahead, refusing to react.

I can’t help myself, though.

I tilt my head and give him a sultry look.

“What do you think, Kevin? Should I go out with Finlay Bentley?”

It’s like time stops as I wait for his response, and when he meets my gaze, he shrugs.

“I don’t care what you do, love.”

With that, he gets up, leaving his half-drunk beer on the counter.

His comment stings more than it should, and I swallow down my heartbreak like I do every damn time. I watch him leave the bar through the window, heading to his truck that’s parked right outside.

Why aren’t I good enough for you, Kevin Langdon?
