“Then let’s make this quick,” I say breathlessly, my cheeks flushing.

The way Kevin looks at me makes me feel faint. Like he’s contemplating taking me here and now.

I wouldn’t say no if he did.

I barely pay attention to the food Kevin throws in the cart, and when he turns to meet my eyes with a burning gaze, I almost let out a whimper.

“Anything else?” He asks, his question hanging heavily in the air.

“Not from here,” I say, and he gives me the most delicious smirk I’ve ever seen from him or anyone else.

“I want to ruin you, Shelby,” he whispers as he takes the cart from me. “Please let me.”

My knees feel like they will give out, and I bite my lip and roll my eyes in response.

He chuckles and guides me to the checkouts, making small talk with the cashier giving him googly eyes.

But he doesn’t notice. He packs the groceries and pays before lifting the bags with ease. His gaze meets mine, and his smirk reappears, stoking the fire between my legs.

“After you,” he says, nodding to the exit.

I turn, knowing full well he’s watching me, and make sure I swing my hips before turning back to him.

His eyes are haunted with desire, and his lips part to let his tongue swipe over them.

I stare at his tongue, and he chuckles before his gaze moves behind me.

I follow his gaze to see Finlay and some girl making out on the bonnet of his car, and I almost laugh with relief.

“Thank God that’s not me anymore,” I say without thinking, my eyes widening as Kevin glares at me.

“When I get you home, Shelby, I’m going to make you forget everyone that’s ever touched you. Everyone.”

His intensity sends thrills through me, and I nod eagerly.

“Yes.”

Kevin looks amused.

“I wasn’t asking.”

I shrug playfully before climbing into his truck.

“Well, you should.”

Kevin loads the bags into the truck before joining me in the cabin.

“You’ve got an attitude, Shelby.”

He’s killing me.

“What are you going to do about it?” I ask, looking at him from beneath my lashes.

Kevin studies me before shaking his head.

“I’m going to take you home. Then you’ll see.”

A shiver runs through me as he starts the truck.
