When I step out of the shower, I'm wide awake and full of energy. I dry off, change into my favorite blue dress, and sit down at the vanity to do my hair and makeup. Every bride wants to look their best for the special day, so I take my time applying my makeup and adding a touch of mascara to my lashes. I pull my hair back into a neat chignon and pin it in place with a few delicate bobby pins. I'm ready.

My heart races as I make my way to the living room. Adonis, my beloved, stands there with the light from the window illuminating him like he is an angel sent from heaven. We have chosen to ignore the superstitions of not seeing each other before the wedding, and I'm ecstatic that we are daring enough to take a chance and make our wedding day even more special.

He looks into my eyes and whispers, “You are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.” His strong arms envelopes me and our lips meet in a passionate embrace. He pulls away and asks tenderly, “Are you ready darling?”

After taking a deep breath to steady myself, I look up with a smile and reply, “I have never been more ready in my life.”

As the car cruises through the tranquil town streets, a beautiful warmth fills my heart. The anticipation of the wedding is like a serene blanket of bliss, enveloping me in its embrace. Adonis looks at me tenderly as if we are connecting on a deeper level than ever before. This is more than just a wedding - we are uniting our hearts and souls for eternity.

As we come to a stop at the church, I take a moment to marvel at the majestic architecture. The spires reach up to the heavens, and the stained glass windows sparkle in the last rays of golden sunlight. Adonis' strong hand lands on mine as we walk up the stairs together. We pause at the top, gazing into each other's eyes before venturing inside.

The inside of the church is just as beautiful as the outside. The stained-glass windows shimmer in the candlelight, with soft beams of light dancing across the pews. I grab my simple white dress and Damon's wife helps zip it up. With a deep breath, I step through the threshold, ready to say I do.

Adonis and I stand in the center of the aisle, surrounded by smiling faces, each one glowing with joy and anticipation. The guests are dressed in their suits and dresses, and a soft hum of conversation fills the air. I look up at Adonis, letting the full gravity of what is about to happen sink in – here we are, taking the first steps of our journey together.

The priest's voice echoes in the church, and my heart thunders in my chest as I repeat the vows, promising to love and cherish Adonis forever. I look deeply into his eyes and a wave of elation and assurance fills me as I say “I do” and seal the promise with a kiss.

The officiant declares us husband and wife; they cheer and clap for us. We exchange kisses and walk down the aisle, arm-in-arm, to the sound of whooping and whistles. Friends throw confetti over us, as we step out of the church, my grin is huge.

The ballroom is draped in chiffon and sparkling lights. The laughter of friends and family fills the air. We sway to the rhythm of the music and like we are dancing on a cloud. Smiles tug at my face. This is the happiest day of my life.

As the night wears on, we get a few moments alone. We look into each other's eyes and shared a few private words.

When arriving in Grapevine after my breakup, I didn’t expect to find someone who understood me so quickly. Adonis has made such a big impact on my life.

He leans over and whispers, "Are you having second thoughts yet?"

"Remember what you were like when I first met you..."

"I was an arrogant asshole," he says. "I was the best thing since sliced bread and it got me into a lot of trouble." He continues. "But I met you and realized I need someone to come in and call me on my bullshit."

My heart swells with a mixture of admiration and pity. I reach out my hand and place it on Adonis' arm. "Oh that first night at the diner, you were so annoying," I said.

We sit there for a few moments. He is so different from the person I first met—so much more sincere and thoughtful.

“This is it,” Adonis says, “This is the start of our new life together.”

The magnitude of the moment hits me.

“Yes,” I said, “It is.”
