“They’re going to be in London for a while. What are you going to do in the meantime?”

“…Your mother suggested something to me, but I’m not sure whether we should do it or not.. Anyway, I have to get going. We will call you tomorrow.”

“Okay, bye,” Marissa dismissed as she ended the phone call. She walked out of the gates and headed towards her car. As she reached for the keys in her purse, she was suddenly pushed against the vehicle, and her shirt collar was pulled. In fear, she looked up to see Eugene with a look of pure anger on his face.

“Eugene, what the hell are you doing here? Were you following me?!” Eugene ignored her accusation that was entirely true and spoke darkly.

“I swear to fucking God.. I want you to try to do something to Brielle or Delilah. You don’t deserve to even look at the ground they walk on.” He hissed, tightening his grip on her, and she attempted to break free from his grasp.

“Get the hell off of me!” Marissa yelled in her struggle, and Eugene just pulled her closer.

“This is a fucking warning. Do something to them, and I promise I won’t hold back.”

She pushed him off and scowled. “I’d be careful if I were you, Eugene. How do you think Father will react to your actions?”

“I’m on the run again.. He doesn’t know shit. So this message is to you. Stay in line like your sugar daddy tells you, and we won’t have any problems.” Marissa walked past him, got into her car, and started the engine. She drove off, leaving him on the sidewalk, furious.

Calvin watched from the window as Eugene walked away tense. He had only witnessed Marissa being pushed up against her car before they exchanged a few words, and she left. He could tell this man was someone she knew all too well—and someone she was also somewhat afraid of… He chuckled to himself, closed the curtains, and walked up the stairs with his son in his arms. He was excited to see how this new character that appeared would play out in his plans.

Chapter forty-six

Brielle

Stepping into Killian’s private jet, I sat in a chair by the window and watched as Delilah walked in with a massive smile on her face. She made eye contact with me and came over to sit on my lap. I placed a kiss on her cheek and rested my chin on her shoulder.

“Are you excited to go visit Reginald and Leo?” I asked her, and she nodded her head. “I missed them,” She said, and I smiled.

“Well, I’m sure they missed you too. They haven’t seen you in a while.” She nodded again, and we sat silently as they continued loading the aircraft with our luggage. To say I had been avoiding Killian like the plague for the last hour or so would be a stretch. But I felt as though he had heard me confess. Maybe I was overreacting, but I had a strong feeling he knew my feelings for him.

Benjamin noticed my awkwardness towards Killian and told me to loosen up a bit, but it seemed nearly impossible. We’ll be on the plane for a while, so my plan to avoid him may not be a success.

I was brought out of my thoughts when I heard Blaine’s voice. “Is there any food on the plane? I’m starving.”

Killian responded. “#1, Blaine, you’ve just eaten, and #2, I am not responsible for feeding you.” Blaine sighed dramatically, and I heard him stomp up the stairs as he entered the jet. He approached us and picked up Delilah from my lap to hug and kiss her cheek as I leaned back in my seat.

“So you’re flying with us today?” I asked, and he nodded. “I didn’t feel like waiting for my jet to be ready, and Killian is always prepared, so I thought it’d be easier to just ride with you guys.”

“I’m assuming he’s loving the idea of you being here,” I joked, laughing, and he rolled his eyes.

“He’s hating it. Always acts like he has something stuck up his-…” Blaine trailed off, looking over to Delilah, and she just stared back at him as if daring him to finish his sentence. “-up his gluteus maximus, but at least I’m better at riding in a plane with him than his father is.”

“I would assume so… Why do they never get along?”

“Their personalities are too dominating and challenging to mix. Killian wants to impress his father, but at the same time, he wants to be better than him. Frederick has always been one to take control of situations, and Killian hates it.” I nodded, and my eyes darted to the door as Killian walked in. His eyes made their way over to mine and lingered as he walked past us and went to the back to sit by his laptop and files.

We all were situated in a brief matter of time, and the jet took off shortly after. I reached into my carry-on and pulled out the book I brought to read. Noticing Blaine reading the cover as he chuckled, I tilted my head and quirked my eyebrow at him.

“What’s so funny?” I asked, and he shook his head.

“Nothing…” He muttered, and I narrowed my eyes at him but rolled them when I realized why he was laughing.

“I am reading it for the plot, too, you know,” I muttered, trying to hide my rising blush, and he shrugged.

“If you say so.. now if you’ll excuse me.” He stood up with Delilah, and I looked at them in question.

“We’re going to the kitchen to raid the fridge, and I’m putting on a movie to pass the time. Feel free to join us when you finish reading the nonexistent plot,” He teased, and I stuck my tongue out at him while he walked to another room towards the front of the plane.

I silently read for half an hour before closing the book. When I turned towards the back, I noticed Killian sitting at his table, engrossed in his work. He was quietly reading something on his laptop, and I didn’t realize how long I had been staring until he spoke.
