Exiting my office, I noticed Killian wasn’t behind his desk. As I left the room, I spotted him down the hall speaking to Valarie. My blood started boiling slightly, and I noticed Anna look away as if she was afraid of what was to come. Dropping my purse on the ground, I walked over to the two of them only to see Killian’s face pale slightly. I gave him a fake smile as I came up beside him and wrapped my arm around his ‘lovingly.’

“Hi, honey..”I smiled, gazing up at him, not even sparing Valarie a glance.

“Hello, love. Were you not leaving early anymore?”

“Oh no, I’m still leaving. I just wanted to stop by and give you a little something…”

“And what might that be-” He didn’t finish as I pulled him over to me and placed a kiss on his lips. I could feel him smirking against my lips as he put his hands in his back pockets. I pulled away from him, and his face said enough as he looked down at me. I turned my head over to Valarie and made a surprised face as I laughed.

“Oh, hi, Valarie! Didn’t see you there.” Killian chuckled as I looked over to him again. “Well, I’m off. See you at home.”

Killian

Looking over my shoulder, I watched as Brielle walked off, purposely swaying her hips back and forth. I bit my lip as she turned the corner, and I made my way to my office. As I entered, I heard Valarie’s footsteps behind me, and I couldn’t help but chuckle.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen her thiscovetous.” I turned to look at her, and she rolled her eyes.

“You do know I literally just stood there? Can we please not make your future wife hate me?”

“For the time being, she needs to… Until we’ve finished all the preparations, I can’t have her mind thinking about anything else but detesting you. Speaking of preparations, have you finalized everything?” She sighed.

“Almost, but in order for me to do so, you need to get her, the little one, and Ben out of the penthouse for a good day or two.”

“I’ll try..” I responded, and she nodded.

“Alright, I better get going. Any more time in here, and Ms. Newman will literally kill me.” I let out a chuckle as she headed for the door. Before she was able to leave, I smirked as I spoke.

“Say hi to Christine for me.”

“Stay away from my wife, Russel.” She snapped back and closed the door once she left.

Sitting at my desk, I glanced down at a picture of the estate my parents gave me for my eighteenth birthday. I never saw a use for it, so it sat collecting dust for a few years until I was looking at it the other day. When I did, all I could think about was how happy Brielle would be in a home we could call ours.

Several thoughts ran through my mind, including some that could only happen years from now when we’re still together. However, there was something I needed to address first, and that’s where Valarie comes in. She’s helping me with the renovation of the estate and also assisting me with my plan.

After reading over a few files, I picked up my phone and noticed it was already an hour after Brielle had left. Dialing her number, I stood and looked out of the window. A few rings went by, and she picked up. “Hi, Killy..”

“Hello, love. What are you up to now?” I asked, and she responded. “Well, right now, I’m on the way to the dance studio to pick up Delilah with George.”

“Alright, and do you recall if we have anything significant scheduled this week?”

“Not that I know of…” She answered cautiously, and I internally chuckled, recalling the various times I’d traumatized her with 4 AM flights across the globe.

“You wouldn’t be upset if I all of a sudden planned for us to take a vacation to.. I don’t know.. perhaps Disney World?” I questioned, and I couldn’t help but bite my tongue as I wasn’t sure what reaction she would give. She didn’t say anything for a while, and I spoke again.

“Brielle, darling?…” She still didn’t speak, and I thought she may have hung up, but I heard George’s voice in the background.

“Miss.. are you alri-” He wasn’t able to finish speaking as she screamed into the phone.

“KILLIAN!” I winced slightly and could only imagine how George felt.

She continued, “What the hell is wrong with you!! Do you just not schedule anything ever? Because you seem to be fine with leaving the country or state any second of the day! How do you think I feel? You’re so impulsive it’s driving me crazy! Do you remember when you woke me up at 4 AM to go to London? Was that on your schedule? NO! IT WASN’T! You know-” I tuned her out slightly as I tried to calm her.

“Brielle, my love, shhh, shhh. I know I’m a terrible person, but please listen to me..”

“What Killian! What?!”

“I know it seems extremely last minute, but I just thought with all that’s happened, I… thought we needed a break from it all..” I suggested, crossing my fingers, hoping she’d believe me, but alas, my Brielle knew me too well.
