“He’s not that bad,” I murmured, avoiding her eyes.

“It’s funny how it’s okay for him to be with my best friend, but different rules apply to me,” Ellie said, sighing heavily. “But then I guess you’re not fucking other guys.”

This is awkward.

“Sorry, Ells, you deserve so much better.”

“Ha, so do you,” she half-joked, blowing me a kiss as her phone trilled in her hand. She gazed down at it before she swiped at the screen, declining the call.

“Is that Raff?” I asked as she shook her head.

“Nah, just some guy.”

“Want me to speak to Logan?” I asked as she stopped, turning back to me.

“Logan won’t ever listen to anyone other than Logan. Trust me; you’d be wasting your breath. Night, babe.”

She disappeared upstairs, and I couldn’t help but play her words repeatedly in my mind.

Would Logan listen to me about this? We were still getting to know one another, and I didn’t want to rock the boat. But another part of me found the whole thing ridiculously hypocritical, so I felt like I had to say something; for Ellie.

I turned the light off on my way upstairs, feeling strange about walking into Logan’s room instead of Ellie’s.

I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to that, though.

When I walked in, Logan was leaning out of his window, gazing at the night sky. He wore just his jeans, and his back muscles rippled when he turned to me. The moonlight caught the grey in his eyes, making them look almost luminous.

“Hey,” he murmured, exhaling a white cloud of smoke, the fag balancing between his fingers when he took another drag.

“Hey.” I smiled, feeling shy.

He was a god, and I couldn’t believe he wanted me.

“God, you’re beautiful,” he muttered, flicking the fag out the window. “Come here.”

I obeyed, swaying my hips as I walked towards him. He watched me, his tongue wetting his lips, and a jolt ran through my core. When I reached him, he stroked my hair first, his eyes following his fingers.

“I haven’t ever been in love with anyone, Jessica,” he admitted, his voice low. “But the way I feel about you isn’t like anything I’ve felt before either.”

My heart hammered in my chest when he slid his hand around my waist, pulling me flush against him.

“Logan, you don’t have to say it,” I whispered as he dropped his mouth to my shoulder, pushing my strap away. His lips grazed my skin, and I shivered as he mumbled against me.

“But I think I do. I think I could be,” he whispered.

I tipped my head to the left as he trailed kisses up my throat, his thumb steadying my chin as he went.

“You think you could be in love with me?” I choked out, my voice filling with desire as his hand stroked my back.

I daren’t look at him, but he stills, his heart beating against my chest, our two hearts trying to find one another through the mass of flesh between them.

“Yeah, I think so,” he said, lifting his eyes to mine. “I know it sounds fucking crazy.”

“It doesn’t, though! I feel the same,” I murmured, my head spinning with euphoria. “But I need to ask you something.”

“I haven’t taken any coke.” He sighed as I frowned in response.

“I know, you told me that….” I replied, confused. “I was going to ask you what you would’ve done if I didn’t want anything to do with you because Ellie forbade it?”
