He was drunk and horny, but I wasnothis fuck toy. I was his girlfriend.

“I’m going to find Ellie,” I repeated.

He insisted on kissing me again. His thick beer tongue in my mouth was enough to make me gag.

What the actual hell am I doing?

I moved away from him as he sighed, his friends calling him from the exit.

“I’ll see you tomorrow,” Carlisle called after me, and I waved at him in response.

I walked across the room to Ellie, sitting with Raff and... her brother.

Logan looked up at me mid-smile, his eyes locking onto mine as my stomach erupted with a kaleidoscope of butterflies. Something about the way his smile faded like he was laughing at a joke at school, but the teacher just walked in.

“Sorry,” I sighed, moving to the vacant stool across from Ellie. I gestured to the drinks on the table, aware that the bar was quieter. “Shall we drink up and go?”

“Logan just got us these,” Ellie said, lifting a glass of clear, fizzy liquid to me. “It’s not often he’s nice, so make the most of the freebie.”

I took a tentative sip from the glass, smacking my lips with approval.

“That’s gorgeous; thank you.”

Logan didn’t answer, but I was aware he was studying me. It made me feel unnerved having his full attention.

“Ellie said you’re thinking of dumping your man,” Raff drawled, leaning back against the hard-backed chair he was in.

I shot Ellie a look of annoyance, but she pretended to be examining her phone, avoiding my glare.

“Urgh, it’s complicated.”

“Well, since you’ve just had your tongue down that guy’s throat, I’d say your relationship is pretty much over,” Logan said, commanding my attention.

His gaze lingered on me when I laughed, shaking my head as he frowned.

“Thatismy boyfriend.” I chuckled.

“I can’tstandhim,” Ellie declared, knocking her drink back like a seasoned pro.

Raff gazed at her, stroking his chin thoughtfully as he frowned.

“Why?”

“Don’t start her off,” I pleaded, catching Logan’s eyes on me again. “What?”

“Nothing.”

He shrugged, leaning back against the cushioned wall behind him. His t-shirt rode up slightly when he laced his fingers behind his head, and I couldn’t help but notice the fine line of hairs that trailed down into his jeans…

“See something you like?”

“Ew, Logan, don’t be a leech.” Ellie groaned, whipping out her mirror to apply her lip gloss.

“Yeah, the other day, you didn’t even know my name,” I huffed, taking another sip of the refreshing drink.

“Jessica.”

My cheeks burned, and despite the drink, my mouth went dry at the sound of my name on his lips. It was how he said it; the faint echo of his lazy voice made my name sound like a rare gem.
